Côtes de Provence Rosé Blend 2019

I've been on a mission to find an affordable,, delicious grenache rose. This H&B blend may be a keeper. It's the palest of pinks, strawberries on the nose, and nicely balanced between fruit and acid. I'll definitely be drinking more of this into spring and summer. — 16 days ago

Jeunes Vignes de Xinomavro 2018

Really nice. Light like nebbiolo with pop of cranberry, raspberry, and tart strawberry. Great zip on the palate and long finish. H/T to @Guillermo Gonzalez for the recommendation. — a month ago

M. Chapoutier

"Le Pavillon" Ermitage Syrah 1999

1999 vintage. One of the most famous (H)Ermitage wines and it is great indeed. Blackberry fruit, spices and leather in the nose that is still holding back. Needs time to breathe. Intense and layered with still a lot of black fruit, fresh acidity and a powerful structure of very ripe tannin. Very long fresh spicy finish. Excellent (which it should be at a 200 euros price tag). — 2 months ago

Marc Sorrel

Crozes-Hermitage Marsanne 2017

76 year old Marsanne and Roussane vines. I can think of several Hermitage Blancs that pale in comparison to Sorrel’s C-H blanc, this is a benchmark Rhône white to me. Full of unique aromas, textural, loaded with glycerol and tannin, deeply mineral and complex, begs for the table. Roasted nuts, smashed apricots, peach skin, Rainier cherry, ripe pear, yellow flowers, root vegetables, wet stones, aniseed and honey. Hoping I will be able to age some, but most likely will drink it all up. — 12 days ago

Château La Mission Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1995

Fun to watch this unfurl over about 1.5 h. Started off a bit thin and Ho hum with a light color and palate. Then, like magic, gained serious weight, intensity and deep purple color. Nose was still a bit tight but eventually yielded dark fruits and cigar notes. The palate was so plush with gravel, dark fruits, tobacco and leather with endless finish. I’d say this is just in the start of its prime and really a wine standing tall and proud right now. Excellent first foray into La Mission Haut Brion. — 3 days ago

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1978

Birth year Bordeaux and this has been excellent. Very old school nose of copious tobacco, forest floor and dark berries. Medium bodied but gaining intensity over the course of 2 h - tannins completely melted. Bricking is apparent on first pour but the color grows darker with time. Perfect bottle that is a little past it’s prime but fun to step back in time. — a month ago
