2019 vintage. "Grand Cras" is one of the 6 subzones ("climats") in Morgon, the second biggest Beaujolais cru. Juicy cherry fruit and good structure of soft tannin. Drinking very well now, but should age well for a few years. Great value at 7 euros. Mommessin is part of the Boisset empire, and Jean-Charles Boisset is definitely focusing on quality. — 5 days ago
Excellent white wine blend - the classic Sauvignon blanc/Sémillon blend but made more full bodied with vanilla due to aging in oak barrels. Paired wonderfully with salmon. — 15 days ago
Nose is like a blend of Condrieu and sea salt. Very intriguing. Apricot pit. Floral and mineral but I get a sense it’s holding back. Now some terroir notes are coming through. Nose is nuanced and complex but right now is showing maybe 10% of itself. Has that earthy funky dirty Burgundian thing. Palate is epic. Juicy, structured, deep and very complex. Super dry on the finish. Really lingers as well. Also showing only 10% of what it could be. Very delineated on the finish and superbly mineral. Not much fruit to speak of as of yet. Acidity is good and there is lovely balance and it definitely floats on your palate. Good concentration and depth. Needs time. Maybe 1.5 hours and I will check in again.
Ok nose is a bit better now. Huge spice. Very floral. Like an elite condrieu but much earthier and reminiscent of white burgundy. Gorgeous citrus. Really needs a bit of air here. Sugar cane. Palate is now gaining finesse and has no hard edges. Gorgeous structure and finesse. Really massive 1er cru/grand cru elite white burg structure. Long finish. Amazing how young this shows. Awesome finish. 9.4 to 9.6. — 6 days ago
Dark red purple. Abundant nose of cedar and black raspberry. Medium full palate yields black raspberry, dried plum (not prune), red licorice, light graphite. Juicy medium plus acidity. Medium plus tannins. Medium finish. Classic French food wine that’s ready for lighter cuts of beef and hearty Sud-Ouest stews (drop a cup or so in the stew to make your own Julia Childs moment!). Drink now through 2026. — 13 days ago
Tasted blind. Tawny color. Killer nose. Notes of bing cherry, raspberry, green olive tapenade and some other herbal notes. So very rich in the mouth. We’re pretty sure it’s burgundy but we’re guessing maybe some Syrah was added, as happened some times way back when. I concur with someone and a guess of 59 P Ponelle Musigny. We’re all amazed at how well this held up and showed. — 8 days ago
Very expressive and complex nose of dark fruits, black cherries, an earthy side, the nose shows some age as well as the delicious palate even it is feels still young, rich and full, without excess or being too extracted or too ripe, big caveat is the very ordinary and short finish not worthy of a real Grand Cru. 91-92
— 7 days ago
Tasted blind. Medium gold. Rich, “wow” nose... has a noticeable power that is a step above the other whites tonight. Lots of lemon and citrus, some gravel stone and dirt, tan spice, white acacia flowers. Later some creme brûlée thing pops in. The experience goes on and on for hours. Has an amazing level of balance... fruit, richness, complexity and structure. Again shows us this is an all time white. We all nailed our guess on this beauty by the process of deduction and the obvious quality of this amazing, in great condition juice. — 6 days ago
Very nice once again, fine, elegant, fresh, lightly chiseled, the attack and middle of the palate is great and of the level of a GC, the finish has a slight sourness that prevents me from noting higher.
Encore un beau Moreau, frais, fin, ciselé et élégant surtout pour l’attaque et le millieu de bouche de niveau GC, la finale a un petit bemol avec des notes amers un peu agaçantes mais l’ensemble est très bien. 90-91
