Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. This estate owes its name to Connetable Talbot, the English general & governor of the province of Guyenne who was defeated at the famous Battle of Castillon in 1453. Deep Ruby color, with aromas of black fruits, herb, tobacco and earthy notes. On the palate flavors of plums and black currants with cacao and tobacco spice, on a well balanced frame. Fine tight tannins, long finish ending with fruit, earthy spice and cedar character. Nice! — 8 months ago

Somehow whenever I know that I am drinking a wine to young I see @David T scolding me! I do highly respect his insights and the plan was to wait three more years!
But the realization that I was going to need to sacrifice a bottle; that I can Hopefully replace came late this afternoon.
Most likely we are going to be saying goodbye to our hyperthyroidism kitty " Patience" tomorrow. It has been a long battle and she would have turned 15 July 31st. So some self medicating is warranted! 😓.
Although this wine is delicious even young! Ripe Bing Cherries...licorice...bubble gum..tea leaves and moist forest floor! Delicious wine! I will try to obtain another bottle and let it age longer! — 6 years ago

Nice corpinnat for an aperitif, or would pair well with shellfish. Citrus and floral aromas that give way to an intriguing minerality on the palate. Overall very harmonious, with the flavors playing well off each other. Finish is a bit of a weak point, as the minerality leaves some bitterness with little else coming through. The long (42 month) lees aging provides a smooth mouthfeel. Good freshness as well. Has some nutty, toasty flavors, but these are more in the background. — 5 months ago

Baby Monte Bello, with big California Cab oomph and gripping tannins. This dark red also featured the typical fruit, earth and mineral notes that you would expect, but I just can’t get past those big, bruising tannins. Improved considerably after an hour of decanting. This 2017 vintage probably needs another half decade at least to soften and mature. Paired well with prime ribeye steak, cutting through the richness like a battle ax. — 5 years ago

Made with 70% Xarel-lo and 30% Macabeo in the Penedes, this is beautifully expressive, with brioche, butterscotch, and roasted almonds on the nose. Hints of citrus and crushed flowers peek out with time. On the palate the flavors mirror the nose, and a vibrant acidity comes through as well. Mouthfeel is creamy, and finish is long, with brioche and mineral notes lingering on the palate. Aged 95 months on the lees. Paired well with swordfish braised with tomatoes and sweet yellow peppers. — 8 days ago
