Landy Vineyard Petite Sirah

Tasting the 2014 in 2025. Full bodied, plush, and soft at this age. Lean, red and medicinal on the nose, but complex and fun. — 2 months ago

William Downie

Gippsland Pinot Noir 2021

Currently about 5 hours east of Melbourne in east Gippsland tasting this brilliant William Downie Pinot Noir. See several previous Delectable notes from earlier vintages. This wine manages to combine light to medium weight with medium plus intensity. Red fruited with Sous Bois. Downie is a gifted winemaker working in an excellent terroir for Pinot Noir. Would like to have more access to his wines up in Queensland. — 2 years ago

The Estate Pinot Noir 2016

My first 2016 BP Estate. Powerful red fruits with a whole bunch stalky element. A typical BP Estate with that stewed fruit rhubarb type character Similar to many other BP Estate Pinots I’ve had on Delectable from other vintages. — 3 years ago

Reserve Pinot Noir 2013

As I’ve said previously it’s always a highlight to drink a Bass Phillip Reserve - Australia’s Best Pinot Noir. Nose of Asian spices, decayed plant matter/compost heap, mushroom and Sous Bois in general - a gorgeous nose. The palate is also gorgeous and of profound intensity with medium minus acid - great length and persistence. Treads the line of intensity and elegance. An amazingly good Pinot of Premier Cru but more of Grand Cru standard. I haven’t been buying recent vintages because the French owners have jacked up the price significantly / now approaching $1000, whereas I paid $495 for this 2013. — 5 months ago

@David White @Ron R Just an update on the current pricing of the Reserve - steeper than I thought - the 2019 Reserve is selling for around $1500 AUD in Australia.

Good lord! So, we’re never gonna taste any more of this stuff.

Reserve Gippsland Pinot Noir 2021

Mid Ruby red with a lighter rim. Red fruits - cherry and strawberry - some bunchy, Sous Bois notes - not dissimilar to the William Downie last night. Another East Gippsland Pinot (“when in Rome, do as the Romans”). Young but from a good vintage with much promise - more development in the pipeline. A light to medium weight sappy palate with good Gippsland terroir coming through. — 2 years ago

Blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Malbec, Petite Sirah, and Petite Verdot, deep Ruby color, with aromas of black fruits, spice and cedar notes, aged for 16 months in American and French oak. On the palate flavors of blackberry, black cherry, licorice, cedar and spice. Medium+ finish, fine tannins, ending with fruit, oak, spice and slight earthy tobacco notes. — 2 years ago
