Deep red and full bodied. Full of dark fruit such as blackberry and blackcurrant on the nose. Chocolate, tobacco and spices on the palate. Smooth and medium in tannin. Long and lingering finish — 22 days ago
My experience is limited with these wines, but I’ve been fortunate to try a few older vintages (‘10 and ‘12), and absolutely love the videos Roy sends out periodically. Last time he gave an update on the 2014 was late last year (I think?) and recommended an 8hr slow ox. I double decanted this for about 4hrs, then consumed from the bottle over the next 2hrs.
Moulds & GIII vineyards. Deep red/black in the glass, almost purple. Aromatics of ripe mixed berry pie, dark currant, dark chocolate black cherries, and some Christmas spice here. Downright gorgeous on the palate…silky, commanding, rich yet still vibrant. Decadent dark red and black fruits, graphite, sweet espresso and extremely fine grain tannins on the finish. With proper air, this is really delicious. — a day ago
One of my favorite lots from the 2020 #pnv #pnv20 #pnv2020 only 5 cases produced. A small blended selection of our finest Cabernet Sauvignon for Premiere Napa Valley
100% Cabernet Sauvignon from our top sites in the Howell Mountain, Oakville, Rutherford and St. Helena nested appellations
Aging in oak tanks for one year, new French Limousin oak barrels for three years, and then one year in bottle
When the Lawrence family acquired Heitz Cellar in April 2018, they discovered a single dusty bottle in the wine library; a bottle of 1969 Lot C-91 Cabernet Sauvignon. After researching, we discovered wine collectors around the world had a few rare bottles in their cellar as well. Upon learning its origin and Joe Heitz’s inspiration for this singular bottling 50 years prior, we knew that it was time to rekindle the essence of this remarkable cuvée. In order to express the very best of Napa Valley, our winemaker began blending trials of our single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons in barrel, kept separate throughout their élevage. Sampling from barrels of our Oakville, Rutherford, Howell Mountain and St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon, Brittany Sherwood found the perfect marriage of these outstanding standalone wines. After blending, the wine continues to age in 100 percent new, French Limousin oak barrels for three years, followed by aging in bottle for an additional year. With the breadth of estate terroir that Heitz Cellar is fortunate to cultivate, we are able to create the quintessential Cabernet Sauvignon that embodies the elegance, ruggedness, refinement and balance that is uniquely Napa Valley. — 6 days ago
Ouvrir son long weekend! — 16 days ago
Minerals, wet soil, tea leaves, unripe raspberries, rhubarb and baking spices.
Decent QPR, one hour decant and a little chill.
Note to self to "remember wine glasses when visiting son" 🍷🤷♀️!
Wonderful dinner downtown Indianapolis last night @ Liverly, great Latin Cuisine. If you have the chance try it!
Wishing weekend enjoyment to all! — a day ago
Perfect with my mother-in-law’s “gravy” with mostaccioli and meatballs and sausage shared with my children while we celebrated her son, my husband’s joining her in heaven this week. A special wine for a special time. — 2 days ago
Pinot Noir from the Champagne region. Translucent ruby color, cherry nose with a spice tip. Tense mouth with freshness and an almost saline finish and the return of cherry. Light, thin. Finds all its meaning served at 14-16 degrees. No vintage on the label?
Pinot Noir de la région champenoise. Robe rubis translucide, nez cerise pointe d’épice. Bouche bien tendue avec de la fraîcheur et une finale quasi saline et le retour de la cerise. Léger, fin. Trouve tout son sens servi à 14-16 degrés. — a month ago
Fortunate enough to taste this lovely wine 11 years after its vintage and it was singing. #napa #pnv Only 5 cases produced. “This wine showcases our 200 acres of estate vineyards by using a blend of the five classic Bordeaux grapes from five landmark Napa Valley appellations. Deeply fruited and elegantly structured, this wine combines nuance and power for a classic bottling. Our Premiere Napa Valley bottling showcases rich texture and deep complexity. Aromas of ripe blackberry, Bing cherry, clove and star anise leap from the glass and balance a dense palate of black plum, cassis and toasty cocoa with a smooth finish framed by dusty tannins.

Wine advocate 96, said to drink between 2031-2040 😳 guessing I opened to early K&L notes, The Desmeures family of Domaine des Remizières are fourth-generation winemakers who originally sold grapes to the local cooperative. After completing their winery in 1974, the family began production at their new property. The estate is now managed by Phillipe Desmeures, his daughter Émilie and son Christophe. They have expanded to 30 hectares with vineyards in Crozes-Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, and Hermitage. Émilie now oversees the winemaking, with her brother Christophe tending to the vineyards. We were excited to add them to our lineup of Direct Imports last year, especially once Jeb Dunnuck proclaimed in Wine Advocate, "This estate needs to be on every reader’s short list." The Hermitage Blanc is 100% Marsanne planted in the Maison Blanche lieu-dit over clay-limestone soils. It is barrel-fermented and aged in barrique (about 60% new) for close to a year. — 5 days ago
