Flaccianello della Pieve Colli Toscana Centrale Sangiovese 2008

The oak has integrated from my previous note in February 2017 where the influence of oak Barriques was overly present. Sangiovese is not enhanced by too much oak in my opinion and is best matured in large Botti like I said in my previous note like Biondi Santi. Red cherry and earth notes finishing with powdery tannins. Coming together. — a month ago

@Anthony De Blasi perhaps a 91 or 92 Anthony but I couldn’t give it more.

Filetta di Lamole Chianti Classico Sangiovese 2016

Rich and ripe - still with balsamic notes - lovely aromatics. A lively nose from this excellent Chianti vintage. Plummy, savoury red fruits, earthy, a trace of mushroom. Goes without saying that this is an excellent food wine, even with the extra ripeness from the 2016 vintage. We drank our last bottle on 12/12/25 with home made pizza. Just an excellent Chianti. — 7 months ago

Fonterutoli Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2009

Tasty, but I would like it more if it didn’t have Cabernet Sauvignon in it and if they used less oak. Pretty rich and ripe. I prefer Felsina, Fontodi, Monsanto, Castell’in Villa, Rampolla, Isole e Olena and San Giusto a Rentennano to this! — 8 years ago

@Anthony De Blasi good question. Firstly I think the wines from Fontodi are young or old always excellent. We had a 2010 Flaccionello a few months ago that felt like it could have been just a few years old so I think you still have time. Always difficult to know when to pull that cork but regardless you will enjoy it!

Chianti Classico Sangiovese 2016

Savoury red cherry with powdery lavender aromas. On the palate sour red cherry - a brilliant food wine. As Morrell wines said and I agree, “2016 is without a doubt the finest vintage for Chianti Classico. “ Drinking well right now. We had the last bottle on 21st December 2025 with similar tasting notes. — 6 months ago

Like this producer and of course 2016 was a great vintage. Does it need more time?

Majnoni Guicciardini

Chianti Superiore Sangiovese 2020

From a corner of Chianti near Siena* https://www.google.com/search?q=Barberino-Tavarnelle&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari (I believe) a family member nee Fontodi has a small bio/dynamic operation. Very old school.
N: Roses, Cherries, red fruits, dirt, green herbs, pepper…. Nice!
P: Quite umami, red fruits, slight licorice, dirt again, nimble at 13.5° Good blind choice. Shame I only bought 2.
Thanks @Garagiste
