Unbelievable! Aromas of olive wood smoke struck me first, the kind that waifs through the damp early morning spring air in the rolling hills of this part of Tuscany. You know the wine is good when it conjures up memories! So smooth and ready to drink now, but the acid is still there and begs for food, I imagine Chianina beef with sautéed Porcini mushrooms...

A good cross of modern and classic Northern Rhone, meaty roasted beef with plum and cassis. 14 years old, this showed mostly mature notes with no hints of its youthful past.

this one surprised me--would never ever give a second thought to Italian Syrah, but this was elegant and harmonious and damn fine all around.

A more fruit forward Syrah that still retains some pepper notes and good acidity. Really cool wine from Manetti. Love his winery.
