My last bottle of this deliciously weird Napa blend. Nose has an olivey herbal note to accompany ripe cassis, and in that regard reminds me of some Napa Cabs from the 1970s when that was a (nice) thing. Also some warm gravel notes and a touch of subtle wood. Soft and mouthfilling, it’s got equal part dark fruit and savory notes. Great balance. Long finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Grenache, I believe. — 2 years ago
A delicious Merlot based Napa blend.
Showing black and red fruits with cedar, vanilla, leather, spices, earth, chocolates, tobacco, spices, peppercorn, coffee and mocha.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate and easy drinking with nice complexity and mouthfeel.
Good right out of the bottle and better with airtime.
Still young and would be better in 5 to 10 years.
A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.
14.6% alcohol by volume.
92 points.

Second tasting 10 months apart and always a favourite for me. CNDP with a northern character, red fruits, livelyness marked with notes of red fruit, cranberry, herbs, peppery, blood orange. Superb vivid material in the mouth, intertwining with intensity tannins and acidity. Even after 9 years it still seems very young and lively. Wine that may confuse some consumers in search of classicism.
— 2 years ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour while we crushed some sushi at One Flew South, waiting for our connecting flight. It’s been a minute since I’ve had Scharffenberger, let alone the Rosé. Still solid. The wine poured a beautiful pink, salmon color with a moderately persistent mousse of relatively small bubbles. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of raspberries, faint strawberry, faint peach and lemon citrus with a whiff of brioche. On the palate, dry with refreshing acidity; plenty to work with our sushi. The finish was medium. More than decent value considering the venue. Drink now. As an extra observation, the new label was a pleasant surprise as I felt the previous label was long overdue for a refresh. I don’t always feel that way as I love the labels of some OG producers but this was needed IMO. Bravo. — a year ago

Wow...a coup de coeur. For a 1er cru it has the stuffing of a grand cru. Very long aftertaste with all the power upfront. — 4 years ago

Stellar wine. Deep ruby. Black fruits across the board. Acid down. Still some tannin but unwinding gracefully. Bitter chocolate. Sweet tobacco. Cedar. Vanilla. Baking spice. Dried fig. No signs of slowing down. — 8 months ago
