Faust pinot noir różowe z reinghau. Leciutkie, w nosie delikatnie truskawki, w ustach konsekwentne. Niezbyt wyraziste, jako aperitif bardzo przyzwoite — 2 years ago

Blackberry, vegetal, herbal, with greenery. Some smokiness on the nose with black licorice. It's great to have an alternative of comparable quality to Napa Cabernet. In terms of $/points this punches way above its weight. To me, this is a very slightly better version of Faust Cab.

A classic Bordeaux style blend dominated by 82% Cab Sauv with Merlot, Petit Verdot & Cab Franc from several estate vineyards. Aged for 19 months in 30% new French Oak. Deep Ruby, aromas of fresh berry fruits with cedar and spice. On the palate sweet blackberry and blueberry fruit, with savory oak & cacao notes. Smooth sweet tannins, savory, with an herb & mineral touch on the long finish. Nice! A Fav! Good value! Tasting Sample! — 7 years ago
Sourced from stagecoach. Heavy oak and blackberry on the nose, ripe blackberry on the palette. Super long finish, nice balance of tannin. — 8 years ago
Breathless – Blanc de Blancs – Cox Vineyard (Single Vineyard Reserve) – Méthode Champenoise – Organic
Mendocino County, California – USA 🇺🇸
Overview
A beautifully crafted Blanc de Blancs made in the traditional méthode champenoise, sourced from the organic Cox Vineyard in Mendocino County. Produced by Breathless Sparkling Wines, founded by the three sisters Sharon Cohn, Rebecca Faust, and Cynthia Faust, this cuvée reflects the winery’s philosophy of celebrating life’s “breathless moments.” Elegant, artisanal, and fruit-centered, it captures California brightness while honoring Old World technique.
Aromas & Flavors
Fresh brioche, lemon curd, white peach, and crisp green apple, lifted by subtle minerality. Gentle notes of pastry cream, toasted almond, and rising dough show the extended lees contact and classic champagne-inspired craftsmanship.
Mouthfeel
Bright, delicate, and creamy. The mousse is refined and persistent, offering a graceful texture that remains lively from start to finish. A very clean, uplifting acidity shapes a long, refreshing finish.
Food Pairings
Oysters, goat cheese tartlets, shrimp ceviche, sushi, fried tempura, creamy pastas, or delicate white-fish dishes. Also a beautiful aperitif on its own.
Verdict
A genuinely lovely Blanc de Blancs that blends California sunshine with classic French technique. Elegant, aromatic, and refreshing, this is one of the most delightful expressions of méthode champenoise sparkling wine coming out of Sonoma/Mendocino today. A winery with heart behind every bottle.

A powerful and expressive red blend from the Faust Estate Vineyard located in the Coombsville sub-AVA, Napa Valley. This is a 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot that generously offers a compelling level of red fruits with just-right-ripen cherries.
Both; the nose and palate concours on the concentrated flavors. It has a tremendous mouthfeel with a palpable high acidity, and spices, making it savory enough to either pair it with food or just having as a sipper.
This V.2021 was ranked #4 in Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2024. The 2021 vintage in Napa Valley was a result of the drought conditions, and the lower-than-average rainfall led to a mild spring/summer, that extended the development of the growing grapes and harvest period. So, wines were more powerful than compared to other recent vintages. Cheers! — a year ago
Wowza. Now that’s a grosses gewachs.
Nose is intensely mineral almost smoky. So dense. As it opens less dense and more floral. White flowers.
Palate is densely mineral. Gods lemon. So good. A 9.5 on open. As it opens more of a sweet elegance. Approaching Faust test levels.

This is a tasty Napa Cabernet. Rich, extracted and elegant.
Showing blackberries, black currants, raisins, sweet cherries, chocolates, cedar, vanilla, coffee, earth, light vegetables, bitter herbs and peppercorn.
Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity.
Long finish with round tannins.
Needed a few hours of decanting, which I did not have at this time.
Still very young, but already enjoyable. Needs 3 years in the bottle to mature properly, and will age nicely in the next 10 years.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
91 points.

Excellent... But it's interesting to compare this to #1 tonight--- Faust..both 2016 Napa cabs. Faust was $52, Krug $29. So what's the difference? A lot, you be the judge if it's worth 23 bucks. Take the Faust, and remove the blackberry, leaving a greenish-pine alcohol warmed bouquet. Take the spherical mouth of Faust and shave it such that you have angular, sharp edges. Then Krug ends with a dryer, perfumed drying tannins.
So, this is an excellent wine, about 1.5 points below the Faust. So make your own calculation, but to me, I'd spend the money for the upgrade.
