Evidence of a slightly warmer southern Monticello Ava aspect/terroir…from a generally cool/dry vintage. After seven years it has concentrated a bit in bottle/callar and finding velvety texture with plush tannins. Plenty of compote/black cherry energy drives a framed herbally-sweet attack. Above average effort compared to their peers… One of the more overlooked/under appreciated vineyard sites and winemakers in the region. — 3 years ago
Made notes and then misplaced them. See previous Delectable notes. I recall this being citrus driven, mainly lime and a hint of mandarin. No evidence of TDN (petrol/kerosene). The standout was the fruit purity. Could cellar for a few more years if so desired. — 10 months ago
Hard to beat for the price,
K&L notes,
The pristine condition of this stunningly copper-colored brandy is inspiring - it's gorgeous. In the nose there are delicate fragrances of spice, sesame seed, light oak, and baked pears; seven more minutes in the glass bring out pineapple, light toffee, milk, and brown sugar. The palate entry is elegant, composed, and moderately sweet in more of an oaky than a fruity way; by the midpalate stage, there's flavor evidence of ripe pear, white grapes, cake frosting, Oloroso sherry, orange peel, and dark honey. End up sugary sweet, satiny textured, and long in the throat. 4 Stars - Highly Recommended - Spirit Journal - F. Paul Pacult 40% ABV

Mid yellow, strong and powerful on the powerful with impressive Le goth on the honey, guava and lime palate. This is proper Riesling that is thankfully drinking well now but I’d expect to develop beautifully for many years to come. First Boxler wine for me and I’ll be buying more on this evidence. Good comparison to Germany’s GGs. — 3 years ago
See previous notes - sadly my last bottle of the 2013. A wonderful Pinot Noir. Along with the red fruits and lovely perfume a distinctly earthy note. The medium bodied palate is polished, fine and long. Owned and made by Shaw + Smith who are based in the Adelaide Hills and transport the grapes from this exceptional terroir in the Coal River Tasmania in refrigerated containers to be vinified in the Adelaide Hills. Quite a daunting exercise but on the evidence of this wine - an absolute triumph. — 2 years ago
Savoury mulchy plum with touches of cinnamon and clove - evidence of whole bunch in the ferment. The palate is light to medium weight with red and black fruits with savoury stemminess. Certain Burgundian traits - quality between a Village and a Premier Cru. — 3 years ago
Lemon in colour. Some flint in evidence and smoky barrel ferment characters - sulphides. Sweeter on the palate than you would expect from the nose. Rich lemon characters. Overall lean in style. Tasted 41 weeks later on 19th January 2022 with consistent notes. Still in the lean citric acid style. Had another bottle 69 weeks later on 5th August 2022. It had filled out somewhat and not as lean. Excellent winemaking on show - perhaps pick a bit later for more ripeness? Mac seems to be aiming for a more elegant style. — 4 years ago

Last Sunday lunch with Roast Lamb. A 20 year old Rioja fitted the bill nicely. A blend of 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo. Aged in new French and American oak for 24 months. Aromatics of tobacco leaf, plum, ashphalt and a bit of tar. A medicinal note the following night. The palate is medium to full bodied with berry, plum and liquorice. Resolved Tannins - quite fluid. This was Wine Spectators No. 1 wine for 2013 and now drinking at its peak but could go on for another 5 years on the evidence of this superb wine. — 9 months ago
