Volcanic Verdelho do Pico (different from the Portuguese mainland Verdelho, also known as Godello in Spain) from vineyards located on 3 different islands - Pico, Graciosa and S. Miguel- in the Azores archipelago. Virtually at sea level and unusually close to the Ocean, vines grow on very poor volcanic basalt soils, surrounded by traditional stone-walled “currais” to protect them from the extreme Atlantic winds. A very decent red, without pushing the fruity side of Touriga N. or over extracting.
Elegant, restrained, black & blue fruit, with an earthy undertone and a whiff of mocca.
Juicy, fresh, with great flow & nice depth.

73/13/7/5/2 blend of Garnacha, Syrah, Monastrell, Graciano and Piquepoul Blanc. Pink to red rose petal in color (it’s not just the artwork) light cherry aroma, Good tangerine-cherry-white pepper flavor consistent with two main red varietals here. Not quite bone dry but close. Nice acidity and mineral finish. Muted flavors overall but a fine wine for sipping on a hot day. Paired so well with a Bianco Verde pizza al fresco last week at Pizzeria Bianco that I went out and bought a bottle. — 5 years ago

Another excellent vintage. Teinturier Alicante Bouchet Grape. Deep ruby color. Big aromas and flavors of red/black berry/cherry fruit. Hints of violets and brambly forrest Floor.
