Opened sometime prior to service. The 2021 pours a ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of funky brambles, purple flowers, capsicum, smoke, horse blanket and organic earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Every. Single. Time. I drink these wines from Clay de Nell, i@ reminded of their deep soul and incredible value. Particularly their Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc. Awesome. Drink now through 2036. — 3 days ago

This was tricky to decant as it has a lot of super-floaty sediment that swirled around like crazy. Once decanted though, it’s excellent. Great nose of deep earthy notes (just a hint, and no more, of barnyard), deep ripe fruit. In the mouth it’s soft, deeply flavored, and buoyed along by zesty acids. Finish is lip smacking and ends on a slightly, pleasantly bitter note that balances the ripe fruit. — 2 months ago
