The first of a bracket of 3 x Corton Rouge at the 2016 Grand Cru tasting. Ironically before the tasting a few of us were discussing how underwhelming Corton Rouge tends to be and that maybe they should plant the lot to Chardonnay. WELL! How wrong can you be. This was the best bracket of Corton Rouge in 4 years of attending these tastings. All tasted blind. The Meo had a lovely spicy nose of red fruits. Fresh - 10% whole bunch. The palate was of palate staining intensity and amazing length. All 3 in this bracket shared that. — 3 days ago
A step above their standard fixin. Need to buy a cellar... — 21 days ago
A fine effort for the vintage. I actually didn't think it was an 04' in our blind, as the greeness of the vintage only revealed itself when the bottle was nearly empty. Quite fragrant. Dark red fruits, Vosne spice, violet, rose, pine, and a slight vegetal edge with more air. The palate's quite dark and soft, backed by a savoury touch and mineralic drive. Silky texture and long finish. Powerful, yet elegant. Really enjoyed this wine. Not hitting in extreme heights, but balanced and a wine I would be delighted to drink again.
NB: 04 red burgs have been quite surprising lately. The vintage seems to be turning out quite alright. — 3 months ago
Impressive nuit Blanc. Lean and crushable. — an hour ago
Fruit forward and could do with a few more years, but pretty good! — a month ago
