Nice viognier from bottle king — 7 years ago
Very traditional and full of character. Great contrast to the Janasse and CNDP I've had lately. Lots of WC influence, old large oak. Earthy, rustic, still elegant. A core of fruit that is the backdrop for a melange of garrigue herbs, flowers, spices, and savoriness. Smoke, baked rock, and peppercorns throughout. A more cerebral expression of CNDP. — 9 years ago
Good aroma. Fruity. Concentrated. Sweet and spicy. Better to wait for more years. CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE COLLECTION TAILLEVENT 20, @110, Enoteca - Barbacoa, 241109-241225 — 2 years ago
Had this with Tania, then bought bottle for home. Liked it better at restaurant, but also had right after a Côte Rôtie, which probably affected impression. — 4 years ago
Excellent Cotes du Rhône with good depth. Owned by the makers of Domaine de Janasse so you can’t go wrong. Incredible value! — 6 years ago

Pure and concentrated. Loads of red fruit, black rocks, sweet herbs, lavender. Very pretty wine that expresses a deep profile. Great intro to the Janasse style. Appears to be broadening out and integrating well and would be beautiful to revisit in a few couple years. — 9 years ago
Domaine de la Janasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Prestige 2023, Rhône, France
Pale lemon in color with a beautiful nose.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate and slightly buttery, with nice complexity.
Showing limes, pears, citrus, green apples, herbs, earth, light vanilla, light oak, spices and white pepper.
Long finish with lemons and spices.
This young white Châteauneuf-du-Pape is starting to drink nicely now, but needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Easy drinking and complex.
Good right out of the bottle, and better when not too cold.
Will continue to age nicely in the next 7 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 3 years and see how it evolves.
Elegant and good by itself or with food.
A blend of 70% Clairette, 15% Roussanne and 15% Grenache Blanc. Aged for 14 months in neutral French oak barrels.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
91 points.
$100. — 9 months ago

Do yourself a favor and follow Esther Mobley on Twitter. She’s the Wine, Beer & Spirits writer for the San Francisco Chronicle and her reporting on the wine country fires is extraordinary... “1880s vines at Old Hill Ranch in Sonoma Valley. Gone” (photo credit to her also).
I had to open the 2015 Bedrock Pagani Ranch Heritage from Morgan Twain-Peterson MW (pictured right) which is also from 1880s vines and just a few miles north of the Old Hill Ranch along Sonoma Highway. It had me immediately saying prayers that the Pagani Ranch would be spared — it’s stunningly pure and absolutely glorious... think choirs of angels. As if a top Châteauneuf-du-Pape producer, like Janasse or Clos Saint Jean, traded their 100+ year old Grenache for 100+ year old Zinfandel. Giant, but radiant red fruit that has a kirsch and violet edge to it. Add in some dense blackberry to a base of rich minerality and this soars into a cloud of herbs and spices including Herbes de Provence, adding baking spice, licorice, and wildflowers along the way, with some secondary cured meat and cracked pepper which gives this the depth and complexity it deserves. Beautiful. — 9 years ago
