If tasting blind, I would have called this maybe a 2013-2015 vintage. Even after being open two hours, this was tight and unyielding. Very dusty aromatics (baked black cherries, charcoal, and dark cocoa) and chewy on the palate (underripe blackberries, baking spices, cedar). Big structure and it has everything you want for it to unfurl 7-10yrs from now. Hold.

Blind Tasting MOT=90
Color: Solid red
Nose: Anise, nothing else really, I think it needed more time to open up
Palate: Very strong tannins, loads of fruit and very well balanced.
Opinion: Very impressive body compared to what I expected after smelling the wine. Maybe more time would increase the score a few points.

Sturdy stonewall. Still brooding and recalcitrant. Reminds me of snorlax

A Washington Cab: oak nose, blueberry plum fruit forward on the taste with a vanilla spice. medium finish. A luxurious wine and multi layered; a definite buy for your cellar. At the BYOB Wine Advocate dinner(93 pats or better) in Napa. A phenomenal opportunity to taste a significant variety of wines. What a fantastic event!
