Blend of about 39% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Petit Verdot with the rest Cabernet Franc, aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak, deep Ruby, purple edges with aromas of dark red fruits, oak and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry, plum and currants with cacao and herb spice. Full dusty tannins, opens nicely, long finish ending with fruit, oak, vanilla spice and mineral character. Nice! Drinking well now, will still age. β 8 days ago

Helping a chef with a Smith Madrone tasting. This is a very nice Riesling that exhibits apples, peach and some bartlett pear. Just a bit of acidity and you will get a fair hint of oil on the nose, not in a bad way. We gave it a good 1 hr decant and didn't serve it too chilled. Light acidity and a full mouthfeel. 7 year bottle aged and drinking nicely. β 8 days ago

Little comparative tasting between the 17β and 12β vintages:
2017- deep ruby color. Aromas of blackberry, raspberry, flint and cedar. Youthful wine, loads of black fruit on the palate, spice and vanilla notes.
2012- deep ruby with garnet rim. Aromas of blackberry and blueberry. Black currant and leather and oak finish. Solid.
