Devil's Corner

Tasmania Pinot Noir 2022

Pale ruby in color; cherries, hibiscus, and black tea on the nose; high acidity; low tannins; tastes like cranberries, pomegranates, red currants, and wet gravel with a long finish. — 10 months ago

Bodegas y Viñedos Alion

Ribera Del Duero Tempranillo 2015

100% Tempranillo, about 14 mos in new French oak. Deep Ruby, aromas of dark fruits, spice, floral and earthy oak. On the palate flavors of ripe blackberry & plum with tobacco, licorice and sweet cedar. Tannins, still tight, support the backbone of the wine, needs more bottle age. Well balance with acidity, full body, lingering finish ends with some fruit, oak, spice, and earthy character. Nice! — 5 years ago

Château Léoville-Las Cases

Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de las Cases Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 1990

Delectable Wine
9.5

Tasting the 1990 Léoville Las Cases just a few days after the 1989, it is clear which is the best vintage…this one. It has a sublime nose of melted black fruit, tar, cedar and bay leaf that shrugs off the heat of that summer better than most others. At 33 years of age, you could just lose yourself in these aromatics. The palate is clearly holding up well: beautifully defined and supple yet with typical Las-Cases backbone and depth. It builds magnificently in the glass toward a harmonious finish that reminds me of the 1985 in terms of its fleshiness. Wonderful. Tasted at the Lia's Wings/book dinner at Medlar restaurant. Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2017

Deep ruby in color with slight brick color on the rim. Nose is quite pleasing with berry compote, lavender, and dark chocolate. Also a bit of earthiness. Wow. A great mouthfeel on this wine. Well balanced with tannins still a bit heavy. That said, I like my wines with a bit more tannic backbone. These notes are from pop and pour taste. Will let it open up a bit and will update if it changes significantly. — a year ago
