Began in 1944, Mario Incisa acquired Cab Sauv & Franc vine cuttings, planted them on San Guido estate, called Castiglioncello, Sassicaia, "the place of many stones". A blend of 85% Cab Sauv, 15% Cab Franc. Lovely ripe fruit & spice aromas. Bold berry fruit flavors with spice, oak, leather & cacao, a powerhouse. Soft tannins allows current enjoyment. Long silky smooth fresh finish ending with fruit, oak and spice. Great now, will age, but drink now, outstanding. Little pricey at $300. Tasting Sample. — 3 years ago
It’s time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here's a gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend.
Full bodied with medium acidity and elegant.
Dry and very fruity on the palate.
Showing blackberries, black currants, cooked cherries, cedar, vanilla, cola, light herbs, Mediterranean spices, peppercorn, chocolates, tobacco, graphite and light dark coffee.
This is a wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Elegant, thick and fruit forward.
Good right out of the bottle and better with airtime.
Showing great complexity, although still young, and drinking very nicely right out of the bottle.
This 2016 was a great vintage and it is definitely showing. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.
Soft and smooth. Rich and extracted. Delicious . I just love these Napa Bordeaux blends.
I paired it with a Charcuterie board of meats and cheeses, and will also pair nicely with a nice piece of steak.
A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc and 15% Merlot. Made by Russell Bevan.

One of my favorite small production wine, 300 cases. Cal Nicholson spent his youth in So. CA & after a long marketing career he hung up his spurs to follow his 2 real interests in life – surfing & wine making. Jones is the maiden name of Cal’s wife Pam. A wonderful wine. Aromas of lemon citrus with herb, stone & tropical fruits. Palate, peach, Granny Smith apple & ripe melon flavors with lively citrus zest wrapped in lbalanced acidity. Lingering finish ending with mineral citrus finish. Consistent! Nice! — 7 years ago

Very long finish with fine grained tannins, spices and cherries.
This 3 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is already drinking gorgeously. Rich and extracted, yet elegant. Soft and smooth with a great mouthfeel.
Still young, but already so delicious, and will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 10 years and see how it evolves.
I've had many different vintages of this wine and it is very consistent.
Fruity, good right out of the bottle, and much better after 4 hours in the decanter.
Powerful with subtle elegance. Spicy and entertaining. A gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon.

This is a great surprise. Not my style of red wine, yet so enjoyable for me.
Nicely balanced with a smooth mouthfeel and nice complexity.
A good quality wine and very enjoyable, even by itself, with a nice tangy ending.
This is not from a great vintage, but it is drinking very nicely now, and will age nicely in the next 5 to 8 years.
This 7 year old is good right out of the bottle, and better as it opens up. I enjoyed it a little chilled, all by itself.

A 15th Century tower flanks Chateau Fuisse, a family home whose history is evidenced by a number of 300 year old artifacts and adornment. From a blend of over 20 vineyards, and about 70% sat on oak for 20 months (25% new), the remaining 30% in stainless steel tanks. Aromas of stone fruits with cedar and floral spice notes. On the palate apple and pear flavors with a citrus oak character. Lingering finish, well balanced but a little forward now, ending fresh and crisp with oaky edge. Needs more time to calm. — 8 years ago

This 14 year old Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from Napa feels very young. Rich and powerful. Showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel.
Great right out of the bottle, and tightened up after 2 hours of in the decanter. Probably needed a longer decant, but it finished too quickly.

Something different - a pear cider from Normandy produced from pear trees estimated to be about 300 years old. Poire Granit had 25 to 50 grams of sugar per litre yet it doesn’t taste particularly sweet. The nose and palate are nothing more complex than pear juice with a slight effervescent bubble. Very refreshing and only 6% ABV. I bought 2 other Cuvées from Eric Bordelet - one had zero ABV. Had a 2nd bottle 21 weeks later on 3rd January 2023 with consistent notes. Refreshing, tasty and uncomplicated. — 4 years ago

White blend from Tremonti, Campania. 40% Biancatenera, 40% Ginestra, 20% Pepella. Very old vineyard with mother plant 200-300+ years old. Strong Tramontana winds, pergola vine system. Aged 6 months in steel. Organic. 12% alcohol. — 7 years ago
Calistoga, CA vineyard. Sits 300 ft above valley floor. Planted 1992 by David Abreu and Heidi Barrett until 2008. Then Thomas Rivers Brown took over. Nearly $100/bottle — 7 years ago
Bought at winery, 300 cases made, my last bottle. I’ve loved this wine, I’ve struggled with this wine. Love the Syrah component, struggled with the 3% Viognier addition. Is this wine too floral? Final verdict: no. How good is this wine? Purple-red in color, medium extraction, very good clarity. Leather and cherry fruit leather notes in nose, buttery floral aftertaste; later white pepper flavor emerges. Medium seed bitterness, moderate skin astringency. Can still age this one, frankly, as the tannins and acids are there. A tasty but challenging flavor profile, and a well-made wine, but not for everyone — 8 years ago
