The 2020 “del Comune di Serralunga d’Alba” is a traditional blend of three MGAs from Serralunga: mostly younger vines from Baudana, Cerretta and now, some fruit from Costabella. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2020 pours a beautiful garnet with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with tart and ripe notes of Morello cherry, pomegranate, talcum powder, red roses, dry earth and old wood. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and slightly savory. I took the opportunity to enjoy this alongside the “Baudana” and this didn’t have the same elegance but it’s a very complete and balanced Barolo. Drink now through 2040. — 4 months ago
As one can expect for a Dave Phinney wine, this is rich and ripe, but it has so much more to offer at year 14. Blueberry, fig, tobacco, cracked pepper, dried mushroom, and slight hint of barnyard. On the palate it’s juicy yet soft and ultra smooth. The finish is long, candied, and earthy.

Deep purple in color; blackberries, black plums, and graphite on the nose; high acidity; medium tannins; tastes like red plums, sage, and clay pots with a long finish. Bri and I liked it. — 3 months ago
Gotta agree with my previous notes. Great wine. Drinking really well right now. — 5 months ago
A great vermouth; easily stands on its own — 3 years ago
blackberry, kalamata, assuaged tannins, in retrospect would’ve decanted a few hours ahead. — 2 months ago
Very dark purple color, nearly opaque, intense black fruit and red fruit aromas and flavors, excellent intensity and depth, biodynamic producer, long, lingering finish, my only real nit is it’s 15% ABV, and the alcohol is very evident in the finish, so kinda afraid to age it the 5+ additional years this bottle shows it should logically handle (slight score markdown to reflect this dilemma). — 4 months ago
Zesty, cheek puckering, mineral driven. — 6 months ago

Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%) and Merlot (40%). Dark ruby color with purple highlights. Aromas of black fruit, tar, smoky tobacco, dusty earth and baking spices. The palate is full of cooked black cherry/currant/plum fruit flavors, blueberries, black tea, graphite and those baking spices. Hint of vanilla and minerals on the long and lingering finish. Medium-plus bodied and muscular structure. Chewy tannins and nicely integrated acidity. Still a bit tight but heading to a very good place with some additional bottle age. — a month ago
