Shy on the nose with some white peach, quince gelée, ripe lime. On the palate this opens up showing the beautiful contradiction of Riesling. This is rich yet tightly wound around a core of mineral acidity. Around this are layers of peach & lemon with a pinch of spicy herbs. Poised and with depth. A very, very nice one. — 6 years ago
Tasty well aged Pfalz Durkheimer Reieslaner Auslese — 7 years ago
2016 vintage. Very tropical. Brûleed pineapple, baked yellow apple, quince paste, banana, fried plantain, honeysuckle, prendre blossom, white lokum, yellow papaya. Good sweetness-acid balance, though a touch less acid than a lot of Riesling equivalents. — 7 years ago
Late harvest grapes, slate, rancy, acidic, strawberry and raspberries. — 8 years ago
Opening night of the Bastion, patron selected, five course, back room restaurant in Nashville. Feeling very privileged and fortunate to be under the guidance of sommelier extraordinaire Chelsea and the staff of passionate chefs behind the round with Josh at the helm. I am not popping my collar but I have been lucky enough to have purely memorable meals in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Italy, France, and in the US. Bastion, with praise, lands on my Olympic podium of memorable meals. Visit soon. I see only 22 seats in the room. — 10 years ago
2017 vintage. Surprisingly golden in color, considering its youth. Petrol and white floral notes on the nose, lots of acidity in the palate. Good concentration, with melon, green apple, lime, white nectarine, honeysuckle, little bit of green. Sweetness is very discreet. — 6 years ago

Shockingly good. Not as rich and acidic as expected, but beautifully balanced. — 8 years ago
Squint smile. Love this riesling! Can't get enough of it. Sweet but balanced by acid with a zip on the tongue. — 10 years ago

Not Burgundy. Not New World. This is German Chardonnay from one of the first to plant it. This 13 year old hasn’t improved much over time but it hasn’t declined either. Gold-bronze color, baked apple pie, medium-full body, fine acid backbone. — 6 years ago
Outstanding initial taste that lasts. Has to be the best German red I’ve ever had. — 7 years ago
Neuro reunion 10/12/18. Dona opened but hated it. Sweet and unctuous on palate like a Gewurz with floral pleasant nose. Be interesting with right kind of food. — 8 years ago
