Amazing night with Louis Michel tasting his release of the 18 vintage — 9 months ago
Betty gamey nose with a distant waft of violets, which explodes on the palate. Lively acidity, suggests pet but there is clearly no pet. Blueberries, bloody meat, violets and liquorice at the close. This is bonkers for the price but no surprise from the buyers at Majestic. — 3 years ago
The 1999 Clos de la Roche VV pours a slightly hazy ruby color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with gorgeous notes of ripe red and black fruits: raspberry, bruised strawberry, black cherry, dried red flowers, licorice, mushroom, sous bois, all spice. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and dripping with complexity. During the first couple hours, this was pretty locked up and willing to share its secrets. Towards the end of the night, this ended up being one of the wines what really started to pour it on. My favorite pairing with the boeuf Bourguignon. Drink now with some patience but better after 2029 and through 2049 with ease. — 8 months ago

Smooth, cherry, a bit of earth. Nice finish and complexity for a drinkable wine — 3 years ago
I love this. The VV. Such old vine sap and density while being insanely fresh. So much energy. Really fine tannin here and just intense granite/ blackberry pastille immersion. Terrific showing. One of the most underrated wines in St. Jo. Nose is stunning. Floral, blackberry flower, olive juice, smoked meat, black olive, just wow. Good dark fruited opulence but invigorating as bell. Such contrast. Unreal today. 9.6 to 9.7. Stunning finesse and refinement. So juicy and olivey. Unreal. — 7 months ago
