La Collina dei Lecci

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2017

Nice Brunello and a real value at Wegmans’ price. Blackberry and stewed plum, cinnamon and leather, chewy tannins, juicy. Not too heavy. — 8 months ago

Herdade Aldeia de Cima

Reserva Serra do Mendro Branco 2020

I am not quite sure of the varietals in this blend. . However, the fruit and the acidity is in near perfect harmony. A really nice tasting blanco from Portugal. — 3 years ago

Barbera del Monferrato Superiore Cima riserva della Casa Barbera 2012

Wow. Now my favorite Barbera. Surprisingly elegant for Barbera. Smooth and complex finish with licorice and leather, starting with cranberry and raspberry. An expensive but worthwhile purchase. This wine was still fresh and could age even longer. — 5 years ago

Reininger

Cima Walla Walla Valley Sangiovese Blend 2012

In the glass this wine is deep dark burgundy with slightly orange-tinged halo. It smells masculine and earthy with hints of pepper, cedar, blueberries and anise seed. The wine goes down easy even with the noticeable presence of rich tannins. The balance is nice, keeping it interesting as the finish lingers. I taste oak-y dark cherries with an aftertaste of black licorice. I think this is some good medicine. I need another dose. — 6 years ago

Collina Rionda Di Serralunga Riserva Barolo Nebbiolo 1978

Actually, Riserva Speciale. Gorgeous intense red fruit with some gnarly bramble notes, a hint of tobacco and orange peel. Also some light floral notes lift the focused and delicious mid palate. Really fascinating. Good age for drinking right now- that great place between secondary notes with intense fruit. What a treat.. Delicious — 2 years ago

Regional Alentejano Vinho Branco 2019

Dried leaves and smoke... oak... leather... tobacco. There's so much going on in this glass.

It's complex and well balanced.

I love amphora wine.

Collina Serragrilli

Branche Roero Arneis

It’s a difficult, low-yielding white grape from the Piedmont (NW Italy) whose name, Arneis translates to “Little Rascal”. I discovered it while visiting the region, a few years back, and have been a fan ever since. Aromatic, spicy, and full-flavored it entertains the pallet with crisp lime and tart tree fruits. It paired well with salad based foods and light cheeses. Roero is where, within the Piemonte, the grapes were grown. — 5 years ago
