Nice tertiary notes of mushroom and forest floor. Fruit is still present albeit somewhat muted. Enjoyable but not the very best from the climat. — 6 months ago

Bourgogne Passetoutgrain Pinot Noir Blend 2025

Out of the machine at The Wine House in LA. Pretty good - quite a bit more of tannins (but 60$) . Mostly dark cherry 🍒. Just to mich $$$ for what it is. — 2 months ago

Actually a robust wine prominently showing that 2003 heat I’d come across every so often. Makes it interesting mixed into the more classical Burg profile, perhaps not silkily balanced but still thought provoking and a good one with Evan’s over salted soyu chicken — 6 months ago

Perhaps first taste? Interesting notes of black berries and spice though more in the background. Nicely balanced on palate. Look forward to trying 1cru. — 3 years ago

Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2011

Much better than my last btl about 1.5 yrs ago. Oak better integrated, but still.char and a touch of pyrazine...which I guess I would call vintage character. On the palate: good acidity, roasted strawberry and excellent density with fantastic spice. Soft tannin on the juucy and spicy finish. Excellent. — 5 years ago

Blanc de Morgex et de la Salle Prié Blanc 2016

Prie is the varietal. A first for me from my first visit to Flatiron in SF- a place I wish I had discovered much sooner. Bought this out of sheer curiosity with no intel/insight from staff. Delicately stewed yellow apples, delicately browned citrus which doesn't sound sexy but this wine is DELICIOUS! Some salty/mineral and "of the sea" happening too. Am I tasting the juice of vidalia onion???? Juicy and delicious, more savory than fruity= Such a cool wine!! Many talking about crazy acidity but I'm finding it to be very balanced. Poss due to drinking 2016 in 7/20. Maybe the younger ones are searing??? Glad I waited a few. Anyone else drinking this while rocking Coheed & Cambria turned up to 11? No its not Hatebreed or Slayer but also not Coldplay or Chopin. Struggled to save some for day 2. Probably not a wine I'll find in MCO =( Taking last sip thinking slightly of old Burgundy. — 6 years ago

Amoureuses Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Pinot Noir

This is of course a 1996 Les Amoureseus not a CDR. Two hours of Audoze air and the wine was singing! Typical Chmabolle silliness, great multilevel complexity, solid mid palate and an amazing finish! Still it was out classed by the RSV — 7 years ago

Les Hauts-Doix Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2002

I bought this for 40 dollars in Paris in 2004. It has survived 2 cross country moves since then. I was worried it would be dead or over the hill. The cork was crumbly. But the wine was incredibly wonderful. I have been meaning to drink this for 10 years but kept delaying. Still lots of primary fruits along with the forest and other 2ndary flavors. This is why Burgundy can be so entoxicating to people. It so often disappoints, but not this time. Too bad wines like this are now so far beyond my means or desire to pay. — 7 months ago

Terroir de Milly Petit Chablis Chardonnay 2019

A fantastic bottle of Chablis-adjacent, just great a year since our last bottle. Please see prior notes on the vintage. (A touch more salty than before, but doing fine.)

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our guest conductor Karina Canellakis is leading WAGNER (Prelude to Lohengrin, Act 1), CHOPIN (Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor, Opus 21) with one of our local treasures, Emanuel (Manny!) Ax on piano and then RACHMANINOFF (Symphonic Dances, Opus 45). A fantastic night is ahead of us!

Terrific nose of mature red fruits and autumnal forest floor and earth. Then a bit of shock of acids on palate but then resolved to nice balanced profile and lively texture. Good finish. — 6 years ago

Les Originelles Brut 1er Cru Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2006

A fantastic champagne that we picked up during a visit to Reims last week. Great depth of flavor, an elegant palate comes across with flavors of dried apricots, hints of candied lemon, and that tell-tale bready yeast character that can only come from Champagne. A great start to a celebration of Vanessa’s promotion to Full Professor at Albion College! — 7 years ago
