Raised a glass tonight to owner and winemaker Denis Durantou who passed in May. We were fortunate to meet him for a tasting and tour of his property back in 2012....a wonderful person, great winemaker with a sly sense of humor....jokingly told us Chateau Petrus knew it was time to pick their fruit when they would look over and see him picking his fruit😂.
1.5 hour decant (lots of chunky sediment). A superb dark garnet color with some bricking. On the nose: Very Expressive! with forest floor, plum, sweet vanilla, earthy, floral, and band aids. Taste: A soft medium body wine with plum/strawberry, minerals, crushed rocks, leading to a dry pencil lead finish. Well Done in a "difficult" vintage ( though many in Pomerol picked before all the Sept. rain). — 11 days ago
Elegant, well aged, showing eucalyptus on the nose with some cedar box. In the glass, tart red berries, teeth staining tannins and acidity that leaves you salivating. — 10 months ago
Back in Pomerol tonight. Just a lovely and lively Clos with an elegant sweet nose and palate. Tannins are soft and finish is excellent. A lovely representation of Pomerol in its prime drinking window. — 20 days ago
Deep color, enough concentration. Matured black fruits flavor, liquere like. It still has tanning. 2010 @2000, Xuheng - XH, 200130-200208 — 5 months ago
