I had to think hard to figure out if I liked this wine. Some might argue that this alone might be justification for disapproval, as questions of doubt signifies a level of indigestibility in the wine. Ultimately, I felt the nose was too delightful to warrant a score lower than 9, which was all dark cherries and strong spices, followed by smoky incense and floral nuances. A little awkward and closed for me on the palate. The vintage's ripeness was certainly on full display, and velvety texture was quite enjoyable, but it offered no more than that even the day after. It sure provided some food for though, but I wouldn't be touching another bottle until 5 years down the line. — 3 years ago

2022/5/31-6/1 with ayu karaage, hachiku several ways, niku-dofu, etc. This is my favorite of the lower-priced Léa reds - there’s really nice acidity and flesh, and enough age to be fully open with hints of complexity but still with vibrant fruit. Really good on day 2 as well. — 3 years ago
