Sud-Ouest tasting #7
Beautiful aromatics with baked lemons, apple pie, Mandarine peel... a sweet opening on the palate followed through with amazing juicy, citrus acidity and whiff of exotic spice... the balance is impeccable and the this fits perfectly both a foie gras as well as beautiful apple pie. A grand wine. — 6 years ago

Typical fleshy wine of the appellation. Fruity notes of blackberries, cassis, black plum, chocolate, eucalyptus. Well-melted woody vanilla tertiary notes. Full-bodied and generous wine with a lingering finish on vigorous round tannins. To drink with chocolate desserts, spicy cuisine, duck southwest style. For fans of tannic wines, this is to be discovered as a matter of urgency, as it is much more accessible than Bordeaux wines. price / pleasure ratio ++
— 8 years ago

Solar oaky Cabernet-franc from 🇮🇱 which is expressed here on notes of very ripe fruit. The mouth is fresh with a well-maited alcohol. Balanced, with ageing marked by vanilla. The finish is tannic and persistent. It invokes Bordeaux and southwest. Gastronomic.
— 5 years ago
Pale yellow gold in the glass. Grapefruit leaps from the glass to the nose, followed by shades of lemongrass. Palate is light in body and echoes the nose with firm acidity and a medium dark anise and mineral finish that moves forward as it opens up. Sauvignon Gris leads this Sauvignon blend with the Blanc playing backup giving it a more Sud-Ouest than Bordeaux Blanc feel. Fans of the brighter yet darker style will really enjoy. And all will enjoy with seafood or rich casseroles or cream sauces. Drink now through 2022. — 6 years ago
Die Ratten von Paquerettes - fantastic red!! Grapes of the sorte Duras (only in Sud Ouest), comes perfect from Gaillac, Tarn!!
Pure, mineral, simply great!! With grilled hip steak, blackcurrant, shallot and fresh vegetables + wild herbs from the garden...

Dark red purple. Abundant nose of cedar and black raspberry. Medium full palate yields black raspberry, dried plum (not prune), red licorice, light graphite. Juicy medium plus acidity. Medium plus tannins. Medium finish. Classic French food wine that’s ready for lighter cuts of beef and hearty Sud-Ouest stews (drop a cup or so in the stew to make your own Julia Childs moment!). Drink now through 2026. — 5 years ago
Sud-Ouest tasting #6
8h decanted, this starts showing some dark cherry, leather, tobacco leaf, moist earth, raw cocoa...dark, savoury, rough. On the palate this is juicy, savoury, slightly rough yet elegant at the same time. Great depth, length, character. This is special. — 6 years ago
Nice discovery of the southwest, with this entry-level cuvée that makes you want to know the rest of the production. A blend that puts Abouriou in the spotlight, a grape close to Malbec or Tannat. The whole presents a very nice balance between structure and freshness; rather oriented red fruits, supported by marked tannins. Good q / p ratio
Bon rapport q/p — 6 years ago
Star bright straw gold in the glass. Nose of baked quince and citrus rind. Echoed on the medium-bodied palate with stony minerals and underripe white peach. Firm acidity throughout as expected from this solid Sud-Ouest white. Pork chops, cassoulet, or even light cuts of beef with Béarnaise will pair nicely. Drink now through 2023. — 7 years ago

Deep orange gold… the color of Jurançon or Sauternes (this is Vin de France). Honeyed dried apple on the initially shy nose. Joined on the medium full palate by stone fruit, dried unsweetened pineapple, and a firm, almost tannic mineral streak on opening that softens to a more velvety feel over time. Finish is moderate length and continues the palate. Dagueneau style in a wine from Le Sud-Ouest that, like his others, develops and changes over the course of a meal from steely with the starter, to dried fruitier with the entree, and finishing with a bit more roundness. Remarkably ready for pork, rich seafood, and cassoulet now, but will reward and continue to do so well into the early 2030s. — 3 years ago
