Medium ruby in color; black cherries, plums, and cedar on the nose; medium plus acidity; medium tannins, but smooth; tastes like blackberries, cherries, and a hint of bell pepper witha long finish. Not as complex as I would like, but pretty good. — 3 years ago
See previous note. Quite pale in colour - transparent - a gorgeous nose, quite Burgundian. Touch of burnt ash and strawberry on the nose initially - after time in the decanter more cherry and red florals. Tom Carson is the chief winemaker at Yabby Lake and Serrat is his personal project. Tom and his French wife Nadege also import a range of excellent Burgundies. This wine has the colour, the weight and the texture of a good red Burgundy. Had the last bottle 75 weeks later on 28th February 2024 with similar notes. Many Burgundian traits - intensity without weight. Light in colour and body. Excellent winemaking from Tom Carson. 91 points. — 4 years ago
Very very good red wine! Smooth and robust flavor — 5 years ago
Made by Tom Carson (chief winemaker at Yabby Lake) as his side project. 2013 and 2014 (the latter being Halliday’s wine of the year) of this wine were awarded Australia wide Trophies and Tom says this 2015 is just as good. Sweet red fruits (mulberry) with heaps of spice - Barb said peppery notes. A fabulous wine with impeccable balance- a perfect match with the free range chicken dish that Barb created. 98 points from James Halliday. Tom Carson for the last few years has been Chief Judge of the Royal Queensland Wine Show. His expertise shows in his winemaking. — 7 months ago

On the nose, a faint cherry... On the palate, firm Italian plum, firm red cherry... Very bright up front... Above medium acidity... The finish is again felt primarily up front... Overall, not overly complex, but quite an appealing style. — 3 years ago

Anniversary bottle. Bought this at auction back in 2012z Tucked away in the cellar, so didn’t realize it had started to leak at some point in the last couple of years. Soaked, crumbling cork and a bit of a disaster to open, particularly since I didn’t have my normal set of wine tools available while traveling. Although a bit worse for wear, the wine showed better than expected for the bottle condition and we enjoyed a nice Anniversary toast in Carson, WA. — 3 years ago
Junior Brown edition. Concert date of 7/15/19. Signed to boot. Good wine. Better concert attended with Jim Carson. — 3 years ago
Nose not giving much initially - just an earthy note - fairly contained. Probably opened a little young? The next night it showed red fruited aromatics of raspberry and strawberry. Very fine on the palate and quite delicious. The winemaker and owner Tom Carson with his French wife, Nadege, just won Viticulturalist of the year 2 days ago in the Halliday Wine Awards. They also import a range of Burgundies. In his “spare time “ Tom is also the winemaker at the highly regarded Yabby Lake. — 4 years ago
