San Luigi Nizza Barbera 2021

Really enjoyable wine. Definitely one of the best Barbera’s I’ve had. Blackberry and cherry with solid acidity. Fine with cacio e pepe. Sorry it’s gone! — a month ago

I suspect that “1952” is not the actual vintage (since Nizza didn’t exist as a DOC then). Just sayin’

Cascina Guido Berta

Canto di Luna Nizza Barbera 2015

At ten, this is simply incredible. Predominantly black fruit with acidity off the charts that lingers long after the sip. — 4 months ago

Riserva Copertino Negroamaro

Funky, spicy, but with plenty of bright cherry to balance. Loud and proud, not particularly balanced but it’s working for this wine. Great with pizza. — 8 months ago

Gattinara Nebbiolo 2015

9.2

Nicely aged Nebbiolo. Nose a combination of lifted fresh and dried roses, strawberry, hint of caramel, earthy mushroom compost. Slightly dusty. On the palate a nice, silky texture without rough tannic edges and a good dose of acidity. Strawberry, raspberry, sour cherry. Decent length. A nice pairing with homemade carbonara. — 10 months ago

Vino Rosso Red Blend 2019

60% Nebbiolo, 30% barbera, 5% uva rara, 5% Vespolina. Light, low in alcohol, fresh and fruity. Really a joy to quaf. Would be great summer red. Having it with two Berkshire pork chops braised in wine and Marsala. — 3 years ago
