Bodega Garzón 2025 — 2 years ago
This is Pablo Fallabrino’s “Anarkia” Tannat fermented in steel with native yeasts and no added sulfites. Opaque purple in the glass and fairly aromatic with notes of ripe raspberry, blackberry jam, and freshly ground coffee. This is a concentrated and flavorful wine that really impresses with its juicy acidity and super fine tannins. Such a lovely contrast to the polished gravitas of Bodega Garzon. It’s exciting and inspiring to be introduced to the flavors and imaginations of new producers showing us that they’ve found something special that’s well worth the exploration. — 4 years ago
Great wine. In the nose, very expressive notes of red fruits, black pepper and leather. Full body, with the right tannins. Long and sweet finish — 6 years ago
His wine is very underrated. At least the 2017 harvest. I apologise to the other folks who scored this wine but this is a delicious wine. I opened the bottle and my wife knew immediately that this was a South American wine and guessed it was a garzon. Honestly, if not better this wine is as good as garzon tannat. Cioccolato, lots of red berries and leather notes. Coffee and a little vanilla on the palate. It is a pity this wine isn’t available in the USA and only 20.000 bottles of this vintage were produced. I will certainly buy it again in my next trip. — 6 years ago

Pale lemon in color with a light golden hue.
Light nose of citrus fruits and minerals.
Medium bodied with medium plus acidity.
Dry on the palate with mild complexity.
Showing lemons, red and green apples, grapefruits, herbs and spices.
Medium length on the finish with limes and grapefruits.
This Albariño from Uruguay is drinking like an Italian Pinot Grigio. Interesting stuff.
Wine Spectator 89 points. Wine Enthusiasts 91 points.
Easy drinking, and good by itself or with food.
13% alcohol by volume.
90 points.

Merlot, Tannat, petit verdot y viognier. Aunque no son las mismas uvas tenia un estilo parecido a un buen vino de Rhone.. — 3 years ago
Lovely dry rose with light strawberry notes — 5 years ago
This is an excellent wine. Paired it with Prime Rib and Lobster. Smooth and rich. Hints of tobacco — 5 years ago
Amazing fruits in nose. Soft and rounded in mouth. Nice and delicate bouquet. Great company for a soft pasta. — 6 years ago
Clear, deep ruby in color; on the nose, it's clean with pronounced intensity primary and secondary aromas of plum, cassis, and smoke; on the palate, it's dry with medium acidity, high tannins, high alcohol, full body, and pronounced intensity flavors of black cardamom, crushed gravel, and black olives. Definitely needs to breath. — 4 months ago
Very interesting, first time to try wine from Uruguay. Very well made, rich and bold. — 6 months ago
Bodega Garzón – Tannat de Corte 2019
Maldonado – Uruguay 🇺🇾
Overview
80% Tannat, 12% Marselan, 4% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot. A thoughtful estate blend from Uruguay’s flagship winery, Garzón, showcasing both structure and elegance.
Aromas & Flavors:
Dark plum, blackberry compote, and cassis with hints of cocoa, dried herbs, and a whisper of violet. The supporting grapes add depth: Marselan contributes juiciness, Cabernet Franc adds lift, and Petit Verdot layers in spice and grip.
Mouthfeel:
Concentrated and structured with firm tannins yet polished texture. Balanced acidity frames the fruit, giving the wine freshness alongside its power.
Food Pairings:
Perfect with grilled ribeye, lamb chops, or rich stews. Can also handle aged cheeses and charcuterie.
Verdict:
A benchmark for modern Uruguayan reds, bold yet refined. The Tannat is dominant, but the blend makes it more approachable and layered than a pure varietal bottling. Cheers!
Did You Know?
Uruguay is the only country in the world where Tannat is the national grape. Thanks to the Atlantic Ocean breezes in Maldonado, tannins here are more polished compared to their French counterparts from Madiran. — 10 months ago
My prior experience with Tannat was limited to a bottle of Bodega Garzon, and I was not really a fan. This bottle gives me new perspective about the variety.
A blend of Tannat/CS/CF (60/20/20), it opens with ripe black fruits tinged with peppery spices, dark cocoa, cherry cola, and just hint of barnyard. Velvety palate with surprisingly polished tannins.
My first Madiran. Chateau Bouscassé is the home estate of Alain Brumont who also owns the more famous Chateau Montus. — 3 years ago
v15. This is good! Mocha, crushed cherries and smoked meat nose. Juicy black fruit and raspberry medley. Smooth, bright, long, chocolate and black pepper finish. Would pair well with many foods, first thought was spicy pasta! — 5 years ago

Had at Tin 202. Blackberry, plum, bell pepper, tobacco, granite. Fine tannin, bright acid, restrained oak. Single-vineyard, decomposed-ballast soils, cool maritime. Lean red meat's best friend. Drink through 2030. — a month ago
