This Etna Rosso is made with 100% Nerello Mascalese (a local variety) that offers a beautiful ruby hue and ripe black cherry, strawberry, pomegranate notes, rose water, licorice, anise, clove, crushed gravel, and earthiness. It’s vibrant and ripe.

It vinified in stainless steel and matured in both neutral oak (for 12 mos) and stainless steel (for another 10 months), lending texture and delicate spice notes.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over a 90 minute period. No formal notes. Slightly deeper in color than the Benanti enjoyed before and there’s a bit more depth in general when comparing the two. Ripe strawberries and cherries. Savory. Good structure. Drinking well now but this has the stuffing to mature gracefully over the next decade. — a year ago
