50/50 blend of Nerello Capuccio and Nerello Mascalese. Bright ruby color with hints of purple. Fruit forward aromas of bright cherry and blackberry. Hint of red/purple flowers. Popped and poured; enjoyed over a 90 minute period. No formal notes. Slightly deeper in color than the Benanti enjoyed before and there’s a bit more depth in general when comparing the two. Such a nice wine for the price...good grief. Have had a couple different nerello mascaleses from Calabretta but I think this is the first time trying Capuccio. Might have guessed an exuberantly fruity gamay from the nose. Medium body and tannins and a very nice long finish punctuated with good acid. Delicious. — 6 years ago
