50/50 blend of Nerello Capuccio and Nerello Mascalese. Bright ruby color with hints of purple. Fruit forward aromas of bright cherry and blackberry. Hint of red/purple flowers. Pallet is also full of fruit (same as noted above) with additional notes of pepper spice, minerals and wild herbs. Nice texture. — 4 years ago
Rose petals and dried herbs with a big aroma of rich cherry and balsamic. Comes off very rich and a little boozy (vintage?), much more than Benanti. Some astringency too for a wine usually very well balanced. Still a hallmark producer for Etna wine. Maybe a little time to rest would do well — 4 years ago
Intense blend of rare varieties indigenous to Calabria (Gaglioppo, Aglianico, Magliocco Canino, Greco Nero and Nerello Capuccio) from the Odoardi vineyards on the hills of Savuto, facing the Tyrrhenian Sea. Delicious, earthy, savory and smokey, nice minerality, notes of olive (the Estate is planted with olive trees and grape vines) and leather (or salami really) — 7 years ago
October 2018. Purchased at a TTW tasting in Jan 2016. Was good then, even better now. Beautiful transparent color which implies a light bodied wine, but it is not. Pinot-esque with lovely fruit and acidity. 80% nerello mascalese, 20% nerello cappuccino. — 8 years ago
Served blind . Arrogantly said after a quick smell & taste, Burgundy from 2018 , high quality village wine. WRONG! Beautiful flavors of cherry, earth and mineral. Pepper red fruits, herbs and mouthwatering acid attacked my palate. Still has structure to endure for years. — 5 months ago

Private tasting at Cellar Benanti. Simply stunning!!! Even better than the 2014 we had the night before. — 4 years ago
Natural wine legend Frank Cornelissen’s entry-level red, a field blend of mostly Nerello Mascalese (86%) with other local varietals Nerello Capuccio, Minella Nera, Minella Bianco, Alicante Bouschet and Uva Francesa, formerly known as Contadino. Vibrant, juicy, clean, not funky, great structure — 7 years ago

Good wines drank on thanksgiving. Got from Alyssa friend Roberto — 7 months ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over a 90 minute period. No formal notes. Slightly deeper in color than the Benanti enjoyed before and there’s a bit more depth in general when comparing the two. Ripe strawberries and cherries. Savory. Good structure. Drinking well now but this has the stuffing to mature gracefully over the next decade. — 3 years ago
Entry-level red, blend of mostly Nerello Mascalese (85%) with other local varieties, Nerello Capuccio, Minella Nera, Alicante Bouschet, Minella Bianco from different vineyards on different contradas. Quite fragrant. Berries, strawberry, smoke and floral notes on the nose. Juicy. Crunchy red fruit on the palate. Tart. Good acidity — 4 years ago
Such a nice wine for the price...good grief. Have had a couple different nerello mascaleses from Calabretta but I think this is the first time trying Capuccio. Might have guessed an exuberantly fruity gamay from the nose. Medium body and tannins and a very nice long finish punctuated with good acid. Delicious. — 6 years ago
Amazing. Everything balanced and elegant. A steal. — 7 years ago
