Phenomenal. Every other year I open one of these bottles from 2016 and the evolution keeps impressing me. On the nose, has a character of rainy ancient west coast forest. On the palate, Blackberry, blueberry, with hints of dark cherry. Blended perfectly with a rich, aged, leather. Hints of cedar wood, slightly smoked. Perfectly balanced. Worn leather, cigar smoke, and vanilla on the nose. Intense palate of overripe blackberry and cassis. Powerful but well integrated oak. Very long, complex finish.

2017 vintage. Winemaker Jeff Gaffner is sourcing this fruit from the original block of this vineyard and only one of three winemakers doing so. Big, brusque nose. Some candied fruit, some usual suspects (cola nut, rhubarb, caramelized cranberry, dark plum and cherry) oot und aboot. Both finesse and power evident during the experience. Fruity nose and medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity.
Showing cooked cherries, black currants, plums, light oak, chocolates, herbs, earth, licorice, spices, light forest floor and peppercorn.
Long spicy finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a very tasty 8 year old Pinot Noir from Petaluma Gap in Sonoma. Elegant and rich. Nicely balanced and complex.
Good right out of the bottle, and better after 30 minutes of airtime.
This Single Vineyard Pinot Noir is drinking at its peak now, and will continue to do so in the next couple of years.
