Château Léoville Barton

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

2016 vintage. Those classic Leoville-Barton feminine stylings. Light/light-medium body. Delicate and soft but with enough concentration to do the usual LB dance...gliding along for decades with almost imperceptible drop off/loss. There are going to be a bunch of WS readers that pick this up and find themselves disappointed since it never plays the heavy and expected. Embrace the subtle side of life. — 7 days ago

Château Mauvesin Barton

Moulis en Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend

2016 vintage. This historical Moulis estate was bought in 2011 by the Barton Sartorius family (owners of Saint-Julien Crus Classés Leoville-Barton and Langoa-Barton). Merlot is the dominant grape variety here, and even more so in the 2016 blend as Cabernet Sauvignon suffered from frost. 47% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc and 7% Petit Verdot. Red fruits (strawberry, raspberry) and a hint of flowers. Medium-bodied and fresh. — 3 months ago

Patelin de Tablas Paso Robles Rosé Grenache Blend 2019

I’m impressed with how elegant and old world-y this tasted. Bought at a (“gourmet”) grocery store, inspired by @Eli Barton ‘s identification of this producer. — a month ago

M De Magnol Côtes De Bordeaux Red Bordeaux Blend

Smells like zucchini in oil or sushi. Cold smell. Tastes like cedar, dark berries, and a bit of bitter stone. I like it! Got a restaurant, would be worth $10-$12 to me. — 2 months ago

Barton Vale

The Lazarus Cabernet Sauvignon 2001

This week our group tasted nine Cabs from arround the world, all from the 2001. Really interesting what 20 years of aging can do depending on the terroir. To me, a hint of menthol/eucalyptus gave it away as an Aussie. Our #3. — 3 months ago
