Drinks like a big, big, mellowed Bordeaux — 7 months ago
At the vineyard for a tasting with Kathleen, Jay and Josie Barton, Jenny Rhodes. A bit less tannin than the 2020. Bolder than the estate Pinot Noir. — 3 years ago
Been sitting on it for a decade and boy was it worth the wait. It’s everything I’d want in a St. Julien Bordeaux. Silky tannins, elegant mouthfeel, great balance of red fruit and earthy undertones. Sadly, that was my last one. — 5 days ago
Enjoyed with Pat’s grilled steaks, but lighter than expected. May be my “cellar” storage. — 6 months ago
Medium deep garnet core with slightly wider terracotta rim . Quite exuberant nose , more dark fruits than the Barton , spicy , cedar notes , touch of funk , swimming pool note also . On the palate quite spicy more intense black fruits , cassis , sous bois , coffee , saline , mineral tinged sea spray notes . Balanced acidity and quite rounded but noticeable tannin . Long and denser on the finish than the Barton . Showing well now but can go another 10 years no problem — 6 months ago
Really nice everyday drinkable white , strong pineapple and green apple, minerality but soft , produced by oldest wine merchant in Bordeaux Barton & Gustier in 1725 — 10 months ago
