Baci Di Sangiovese

Argiano

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2019

2019 vintage. PNP'd. Medium-heavy body. Lots of extraction and fruit along with corresponding tannic presence. Youthful but still in balance as we speak. A bit aggro as far as Brunello styles go but backing up the hype. Need to revisit in a half-decade after this has a kid and has to settle down and get a job that pays the bills. 10.22.24. — 17 days ago

Post Soldier’s Wish wine. Really smooth cab. Wish it was with a steak. — 13 hours ago

Solaia Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2019

Breathtaking… as complete and as rounded a Solaia as I have ever had. Great aromatics. The perfume was strong and the dark fruit was full of live but also rich. It was as interesting in the 3rd hour as the first. Fantastic bottle! This is why I love wine… — 15 days ago

Not too young?

Surprisingly no. I was shocked at how developed it was already.

Castiglion del Bosco

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2019

This wine has a dark garnet color in the glass, with a bit of brick red around the edge. Dark fruit dominates the nose, with aromas of cherry, black cherry and plum. Notes of tar, anise and sage adorning the fruit. The palate offers a savory mix of minerals, spices and cedar. The acidity is brisk and the tannins are firm. A medium-length finish highlights the savory aspect of the wine. It is a very smooth sip considering the 15% alcohol. — a month ago

Fattoria di Fèlsina Berardenga

Riserva Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2020

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days. Consistent throughout. The 2020 Chianti Classico Riserva pours a deep garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with lovely notes of tart and ripe red and black fruit: Morello cherry, blackberry, black tea, dried green herbs, dry gravelly earth, and theres a little bit of VA too. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and zippy with a very elegant texture. A lovely example of the 2020 vintage. Drink now through 2035. — 9 days ago

@David T Agreed. In fact, I probably prefer their CC and CCR over Rancia and Fontalorro but all of them are really solid.

Riserva Pipparello Montefalco Rosso Sangiovese Blend 2007

Wow, such a pleasure to drink this at this stage. Oodles of dark red and black fruits at the core with a frame of tertiary notes. Subtle spice and and savory notes too. The palate is med+ to full bodied with med+ long but fine grain tannin that are starting to resolve. Deep and pronounced on the palate with a long, and subtly structured finish. Really fun and really good! — 13 days ago
