Armand Heitz

Comte Armand

Clos des Epeneaux Monopole Pommard 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2012

Quite a deep colour , deep garnet , with a medium wide garnet rim . Needs time to open , quite discreet but quite deep and dark on the nose , with some blackberry tinged , liquorice , dark cherry , earthy sous bois . This opens up after a while to show more floral influences, lighter , redder fruits . On the palate this is quite dense , with a blackberry , dark cherry hint , earthy , mineral with quite grippy tannins . Good volume and density . Balanced acidity and earthy , mineral tinged finish. This needs time and improved quite a lot with air but really needs a few more years in the cellar , maybe come back in 5 years and will last well at least another 10. Promising . — 2 days ago

Martha's Vineyard Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

Better than the 05, but still not quite up there with the 2010 which really exhibited the traditional Eucalyptus. But considering all were auction bottles who really knows. But this was a great steak wine, drank over 6 hours.

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Free orchid samples for my stores, Heitz not free.
But so worth it. These need 15-20 years to live up to the name.

I’ve had friends put them in there for the steam from a shower and it worked out.
I prefer indirect lighting like a patio room. Typically they would last 5-6 months before they bloomed out.
Just don’t buy one thats fully bloomed, sometimes they are in a store for a couple months. A fresh one would typically have 4-6 buds that haven’t opened.

And the Heitz was great but from 2 days ago, Delectable takes a couple days now to show the wine you post.

Oh if it’s a garden like this you can use ice cubes placed on top of the roots then drain the ceramic after they melt.

Domaine Armand Rousseau

Clos St. Jacques Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 1999

A fantastically complex and profound nose. Dark gnarly fruit, some black cherry and complex herbal notes. Lovely fruit and getting better by the minute in the glass. Glorious as always. — a month ago
