Arch Terrace Estate Vineyard Merlot 2019

Lovely color. Smells like rocks and wet foilage. Flavors are excellent and complex. Rocks and juicy berries. This is great stuff. — a month ago

Grifalco di Lucania

Aglianico del Vulture 2017

As you open this wine you begin a trip to the arch of Italy’s boot. Although this southern, mountainous region has a few small vineyards under vine. The big red grape Aglianico is limited to the slopes of an extinct volcano Mount Vulture. Notes of blackberry, black cherry and wild herbs. Well-balanced and tamed. On hold for 5 years and it’s sensational. — 4 years ago

Delicious! Quite tannin-y but with strong fruit flavor at the finish. Smooth tannins though. One of our yakima wines — 6 years ago

Dehesa La Granja Tempranillo 2011

Musky Cherry, prune smell that bites lightly at the nostrils, the taste comes in round and big, sticky before then coming in an underwhelming arch given the attack, that regardless is very full and numbing to both the tongue and roof of mouth, the body essentially dances, meaning it doesn’t come in strong or fade, it jumps, which I find cool. At the end, the wine leaves a prune residue with a persistent but mild acid that creates a favorable combination — 6 years ago

Pride Mountain Vineyards

Premiere Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

In one word: excellent. This was enjoyed tonight on the eve of ID4. Not sure what I was expecting, but it certainly wasn't this. I'm a fan of Pride, but I don't think I've ever had a wine from Pride quite like this. From Pride: "This year, I decided to pay homage to Brother and Sister Co-Owners Steve Pride and Suzanne Pride Bryan by drawing from the two vineyard blocks that produce our very best Cabernet Sauvignon, our Rock Arch vineyard, which forms the core of our Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, and our Rim Rock vineyard, used for our uber-limited-production Vintner’s Select Cabernet Sauvignon. " And oh mama what a treat. This wine is blackberry, black cherry, sweeter cinnamon spice on the nose. The palate is black licorice, black cherry, ripe black fruits, hint of baking spice, grilled meat. The middle of this wine shows off the full bodied blackberry and aged black cherry core. Power and finesse together. Almost a sweeter middle that has you grabbing the bottle and verifying that this indeed is an 09. NO SIGN of decline. Finish with some acidity, but tannin has resolved and this wine is singing on the finish. I know I've had a wine with more expressive fruit, but I don't think I've ever had a wine that was so intricate yet powerful. Wow. — 8 years ago

Archer Vineyard

Chehalem Mountains Estate Pinot Noir 2019

This is the “Arch” cuvée. And it’s quite a cuvée! Gorgeous nose. Deep, ripe, pure, spiced cherry. Also a subtle gravelly mineral note. In the mouth, it’s deeply flavored but has less fruit than the nose suggests and instead features quite a mineral streak. Very nice acidity propels it along and there a line of taut, fine-grained tannin. I think this is on the young side and will benefit from 2-4 more years. — a year ago

Mixed forest berries, sweet spice, garrigue, dried herbs, eucalyptus hints; less ripe berries, acidic arch, dusty grippy tannins yet fine. Yowsa on the palate! Nice job Justin. — 5 years ago

Hopfenkopf Brau GbR

Schwarze Tinte Collab Stout

Strong head builder; just under cappuccino. Arch and aqueduct lacing. Dark chocolate ganache and espresso notes veil a burnt black cherry and dark rye bread nose. Black coffee and bittersweet chocolate grip the palate, with burnt pecan edges. A creaminess suggests hazelnut oil, cola bean, tonka, carob, and mildly, ginger snap. Easy to drink stout that doesn’t give in to superlative extremes. Lovely beer!

Arch Terrace Estate Vineyard Red Mountain Cabernet Franc 2016

WA Cab Franc. Might be my first. Smells strange and lovely. Wet earth, aka mud, and dark fruits. Hints of smoke and meats. Even smoked meats. Flavors are robust and extracted. Very full. Nice deepness to the fruit and smoke flavors. This is New World Bordeaux type wine at its best. — 6 years ago

Chablis Chardonnay 2018

Lemon, thyme, tarragon, slight melon, taste is meaty for a Chabis (it’s veal I swear), gold yellow, the silky numbing sensations by the end is sedative, an arch of herbal (tarragon, thyme, oregano) with heavy almost ripe Japanese pear (drawing a blank but one with the white styrofoam), cantaloupe, and a straight forward slightly woody, slightly butter, slightly minerally tannin with a small tap of heat as it’s finish it’s oral journey (ok I’m having too much fun), that is refreshingly balance especially given all thats going on — 6 years ago
