Helioterra

Sparkling Applegate Valley Grenache Rosé 2018

This is a local, small batch Portland wine maker who decided to try her hand at sparkling with fantastic results. This Grenache sparkler is really dry with a hint of toast and solid Grenache fruit. Very drinkable. On special at the local Whole Foods for $17. If you can find it near you, get some. There isn’t much out on the market. — 11 days ago

Claret Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2015

Leather and hay on the nose. Light red fruit on the front, but not much is happening there. The party begins at the top of the palate, where are the blackberry and ripe red cherry (as they say on the label) kick in. Light to medium tannic structure, with no offnotes. Soft finish. This is a very very nice table wine— but I can’t give it more than an 8.9, because there are no surprises here. — 6 days ago

Interesting... a bit of zest on the tongue, or even a bit of sparkle. It is tasty though. — 2 days ago

Fiesta Tempranillo 2015

Dense purple-red, moderately to heavily extracted pigment. Black currant and funk notes on pour. Raspberry, cola and, later, salty mint and thyme-herbal flavors. Good acid but not quite tart. Moderate skin astringency, needs time to open. — 21 days ago
