Nice tertiary notes of mushroom and forest floor. Fruit is still present albeit somewhat muted. Enjoyable but not the very best from the climat. — 20 days ago
So much to say about this bottle. Its profile, its history, its growing rarity. And the fact that it was made at the very peak of The Patriarch’s era…
Then there is the occasion. A wine you cellar and protect, waiting patiently for the one moment worthy of all its allure.
A wine from a cooler Napa Valley, so evident in the glass it becomes mesmerizing. The freshness, the tension, the quiet authority; everything speaks of a time and place in Napa which no longer exists.
Yes, this is the kind of bottle that stays with you, not just as a wine, but as a memory. — 10 days ago

So interesting. Always a 100% Pinot Noir blend from three different reserve vintages (one at least ten years old). Bright golden color. Distinct umami aromas along with hints of green apples, white flowers and red berry fruit. Flavors of red cherries and strawberries, soy sauce, apricot and mushrooms. Beautiful note of mineral tension on the long, persistent and lingering finish. Fine stream of tiny bubbles and a creamy mousse. Outstanding freshness, complexity and length. Bright and clean acidity. Quite intense yet very delicate at the same time. Simply fantastic and totally unique. Beautiful basket-style packaging. Thanks for bringing this special New Year’s Eve bottle, Kase! — 21 days ago
