100% pinot noir from Bouzy and Ambonnay, all stainless steel. From magnum. What magnificence! A bursting panoply of fruit-driven excitement, not sure I would have outed it as all pinot noir, but this is rockingly easy champagne to drink. Very friendly, food welcome but not entirely necessary. Excellent for its modest price tag, the Clouet family has been farming their vineyards in Bouzy and Ambonnay since 1751. The Grande Réserve Brut Grand Cru is their entry-level label and it offers a classic profile of apple skins, red berries and a faint whiff of toast. The profile is clean, and balanced with some creaminess upfront offset by chalky minerality at the finish. Nice persistence, I would certainly buy it again.
