Les Parcelles Bouzy Grand Cru Champagne Blend

Birthday celebration for @Cody Uzzel at Lucio’s with a bunch of friends. All wines (except sparklers) tasted blind.
.
Always gotta finish with bubbles 🥂 my third and final contribution of the evening and the perfect bottle to end on. This got downed fast as our palates were in need of respite. I lament that this was my final bottle of this stuff, but I couldn’t have asked for a better way to kill it off 🍾

Brut Réserve Grand Cru Champagne Blend

Deep, complex, and highly expressive. Very good for the price point. More in the style of Bollinger. — 18 days ago

Première Cuvée Brut Champagne Blend

Celebrating my parents’ anniversary. This is everything I want in a champagne at this level. Expressive, approachable, and very refreshing. Paired nicely with homemade cinnamon rolls. — 2 days ago

One of my fave champers, but I don’t recognize the style of label. I don’t recall the gold label.

@Ron R I think when I chilled the bottle in an ice bucket with water in it the label turned a more saturated gold color. It’s normal color is the more classic beige with a gold tinge.

Brice

Bouzy Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne Chardonnay

Prior notes apply, but doing a little better than last time, 91.5 points tonight.

Nose of lemon juice, toasted brioche and cold limestone.
Palate has yeasty citrus, creamy minerality and fun salinity on the finish.
A nice BdB with no dosage.

I've found the Brice NV bottles all need a decant, yes decant Champagne, seriously. These bubbles are over the top, and only an extensive airing will bring you full enjoyment. The vintage bottles are good to go from the bottle, more restrained effervescence there. This was decanted for about 45m, but I did have the decanter in the refrigerator, I still have respect for service temperature.

So many champys benefit from a decant!

@Aravind Asok @Severn Goodwin Absolutely re decanting Champagne. Have found it essential with Jacques Selosse. Also in White Burgundy glasses, not flutes. Cheers.

@Bob McDonald Agreed! I have plenty of flutes, bought early in my wine experience career, and never use them any more. Using with white Burgundy glasses only...It's the best way, if you like to smell your wine.

Bouzy Rouge Coteaux Champenois Pinot Noir 2014

Extremely pretty, and sadly quite hard to find. Silky texture, cherries and strawberries, earth and mineral tones. — 25 days ago

Hard to beat and harder and harder to find these days. As always, great texture and creaminess frames by potent Bouzy fruit and richness. — 2 days ago
