Last ‘16 bottle. A blend of 85% Cab Sauv, 7% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot & 3% Cab Franc. Deep Ruby with aromas of fresh dark fruits and some minty notes. The palate shows plums, blackberries and black cherries with sweet spice and notes of cacao. This is a consistent wine and a good value, this is my house Cab. The finish has good length, firm tannins, on the smoother side, and is well balanced. Past it’s prime drink now.

It’s time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a great one from Napa Valley.

Dark ruby in color with a short purple rim.

Fruity nose of blackberries, black plums, black currants, sweet cherries, dried figs, cedar, vanilla, licorice, chocolates, mocha, coffee, coke, tobacco and black pepper.

Full-bodied and bold with medium acidity bold and long legs.

Dry on the palate, and very fruity, with blackberries, blueberries, figs, raisins, licorice, vanilla, leather, spices, graphite, light vegetables, alcohol, peppercorn, coffee, dark chocolates, coke and earth.

Long spicy finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a young Cabernet from Napa. Already drinking nicely with lost a fruits and mild complexity.

Showing a nice mouthfeel with solid structure. Spicy and bold.

Needs 90 minutes to open up properly and show the tannins.

Need years in the bottle to mature and get more complexity. Would be better in the next 5 to 15 years.

I had it all by itself, but a big piece of steak would be nice too. 😊

14.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here's a nice one from Napa Valley.

Dark purple in color with a short purple rim.

Fruity on the nose with blackberries, blueberries, sweet cherries, cedar, leather, earth, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, mocha, earth, dark coffee and black pepper.

Full bodied and bold with medium acidity and nice long legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cedar, vanilla, leather, light bell pepper, tobacco, herbs, spices, dark chocolates, coffee and peppercorn.

Medium plus on the finish with grippy tannins and tangy raspberries.

This young Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, is already very enjoyable by itself or with food. Well balanced with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel.

Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up and shows some tannins (30 minutes). After a couple of hours big tannins come in.

This is a great Cabernet to cellar for 10 years.

I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

Now that I am officially finished working as a RT; and have had both vaccines; my family is allowing me back in...to visit. This wine was my Christmas Gift from my brother. When I told him that I would probably wait 5 yrs. to consume; his face fell. I could tell that he was excited that I try the wine! 🤗 Of course! Although this wine is young! Mondavi! Such balance...swirling for 90 seconds. Tight but the elements for a very nice wine are standing up proudly!
I need to find another 2016..and open in 5 years! My score is low..considering potential!
