Tobacco leaf. Full of red and some black berries. Tanins are ripe, granular. Oaky. Midpalate fruit.
Powerful 100% Tempranilio. Alion is owned by Alvarez family. Just 12km away from Vega Sicilia, which belongs to the same family.
Top quality wine that can compete with Valbuena 5°, but made in a slightly more modern style.
That's not the first time I open this vintage of Alion. Now it feels more tight. Needs more bottle aging. I strongly recommend some aeration before serving this wine. Maybe leave it for a good couple of hours in wide decanter.

In short, surprised and underwhelmed. The nose is absolutely gorgeous: fresh blue berries and whipped cream. After that, resembles CA in the first few rounds of the Alvarez / GGG fight. Decent attack but weak mid palette. Tannins are spot on, however. If this were a bit more ripe and had more horsepower on this finish it would be far more interesting / enjoyable. — 9 years ago

A very fun wine! Step out of the box and do not think anything like "a California Cab".
This single vineyard Cabernet from Spain is smooth, presents a long finish, showcasing herbs and acidity more than fruit. James Suckling rated this at 91. Grapes from 40-60
Year old Vines, dark fruits on fore palate, medicinal, mushrooms, potpourri, herbs on midpalate following through the finish. I pick up a lot of milk chocolate on the nose but does not transcend to palate. — 3 years ago

Blend of Verdejo (80%) and Godello (20%). Bright yellow color. Aromas of orchard fruit, white flowers, smoke and a bit of green pepper. Flavors of green apple, lemon and a bright mineral backbone. Nice hint of saline on the long and crisp finish. Bright and plush. Good mouthfeel and nicely balanced. Reasonable. — 7 months ago
