Pontet Canet tasting and dinner with Alfred Tesseron.
The 96 is a nice surprise add from Clyde’s cellar. Thank you Clyde.
This 96 is beautifully floral. The evolution is right around its peak. The body is medium full and the tannins soft. It’s an elegant beauty.
The fruits are ripe and delicious. Leaner blackberries, black raspberries, dark cherries, strawberries and shades of raspberries. Soft earth; dry top soil, dry rock, limestone minerals, old tobacco, soft leather, cedar with dry and withering red & dark florals. The acidity is like a waterfall. The long finish is well balanced fruit & earth and in a sweet spot.

Very enjoyable. Not a bargain at $58, but one could bring to a party without shame. — a year ago
@Delectable Wine this is the Weisserberg bottling. Having enjoyed the 2015s (a very different vintage) while in Berlin a few years back, I grabbed a few of these 2014s online upon returning home. The first couple bottles were underwhelming - very austere, lacking fruit and with a degree of minerality and acid that nearly stripped the enamel off my teeth. This last bottle, however, enjoyed a couple years later, suggests the wines were simply opened too young. There is now fruit here in spades - ripe orchard fruits and citrus, and a delightful green herbal character. Delightful stony minerality, and at this age some petrol is starting to develop. Acid is still providing nice structure. Nothing life changing but I’m glad I was able to see this through it’s early-mid range development. — 6 years ago
White truffle and biscuity yeast-ness. Brioche, lemon and cooked lime, clean floral reminiscent of magnolia, but much less pungent. Immediate lemon curd, lemon zest and pith atop the aforementioned brioche, and a chalky minerality to the texture. Nice, sustained resonance of pomelo and lime. — 7 years ago
Charming, ethereal body, zesty acidity, apricot, Golden Delicious apples, nectarines, and well integrated RS. All this loveliness at just 8%ABV. This will just get better with age. — 8 years ago

Very elegant, textured and mildly creamy with extroverted berry, mandarin, and spice notes coating the palate with typical Gratien electricity on the persistent finish. Paired beautifully with a NY Strip. Nice way to celebrate my 50th Birthday. — 6 months ago
