Bollenberg Alsace Riesling 2022

Much more floral than the 2022 Dirstelberg Riesling, leaner, less sweetness/ripeness as well, this will need more cellaring, I marginally prefer the Dirstelberg. — 22 days ago

Petrol, diesel, floral, great acid, lovely balance, lingering finish, just the slightest touch of sweetness/richness, very refreshing on this 95 degree day!! — 22 days ago

Bollenberg Musagète Alsace Muscat 2022

So, a little sweet Alsatian Muscat for dessert while watching the men’s NCAA Natty (my team ain’t there, LOL!!), this has consistently been very good every time we’ve opened it, kudos to Agathe!! — 3 months ago

Eminence Sylvaner 2021

Just a lovely, complex Sylvaner, great acidity, some nice slight honeyed notes to the layered fruit, even though this cannot have Grand Cru on the label because the grape is Sylvaner, the juice is from fruit grown on Zinnkoepfle, a Grand Cru vineyard that Agathe farms. — a year ago

Sylvaner is one of the few “second tier” varieties that sometimes gives me a thrill. (I’ve yet to taste an Aligote that had that effect on me, for instance.)

@Tom Casagrande, she makes another Sylvaner from another Alsatian vineyard that is quite good, but not at this level. I have read that she loves Sylvaner, having grown up eating berries while helping her grandparents tend the Zinnkoepfle Grand Cru vineyard!!

@Tom Casagrande, I pressed “Submit” on this and it posted instantaneously, just like before “The Troubles”!?!?!? 🤷👍

@Doug Powers - I’m still experiencing major issues. Screen going white. Cant get it to refresh. Freezes as I scroll down. It will upload photos I take while posting, but not photos from my photo gallery (which means I can’t upload anything from the Ridge Zin tasting I attended on Sunday), deleting wines from my page. Getting “Waiting to submit” if I try to do a score and notes at the time I originally post (I have to go back and “edit” later), not identifying wines (or at least giving me a list to choose from). I’m probably forgetting a few. God knows of this comment will post

Zinnkoepflé Gewurztraminer 2019

Wow, Grand Cru Gewurztraminer, floral, spice, hint of lychee, great balance, long, lingering finish, way less ripe than the 2022 Lutzeltal, but with amazing complexity and depth, fantastic juice. Not sure, but it may have been the Importer?? 🤔🤷😂 — 2 months ago

Domaine du Chaillot

Sainte Agathe Tressallier 2023

Tressailler aka Sacy is a vine which was praised 3 or 4 centuries ago, given the ability of the wine to travel long distances (not becoming vinegar on the way) thanks to its natural level of acidity. Acidity is kept under control for this one, with all its character and flavours blending into a perfect balance. — a year ago

Strangenberg Pinot Noir 2020

Also red cherry up front, but more restrained than the 2017, tannins are better integrated and less drying, fruit is a little riper and lusher, this should easily cellar 3-5 more years, this is a really terrific Alsatian Pinot Noir!! — a month ago

I’m in the Ahr valley this weekend. Had the Alsace pinots 2 years ago. Looking forward to see the difference as Ahr should be better according the literature and I experienced the Alsace pinots as really great!

Domaine Christine Vernay

Sainte Agathe Syrah 2020

Basket of fresh black and red fruits, smoky notes, roasted, charcoal, pepper, violet. The nose suggests a little residual sugar, except it will turn out to be very dry in the mouth. Supple and beautiful creaminess, the texture in the mouth is beautiful. Côte-Rôtie style. Superb for its price.
