Thank you Brian and Russell for the sneak peak!!
Dark ruby red. Lush nose with cinnamon, twigs, raspberries, and cherries. Medium acidity (6.5/10) and medium to medium plus bodied. Lush and layered palate with red berries, spices and some freshly broken twigs. Long finish. Drink till 2027. — 4 years ago
@Delectable Wine : This is the Purrington Rued vineyard Chardonnay. I didn’t see it in the database.
One of the wines I opened for my annual WWC hosting.
The first release of this vineyard from Addax. My experience with Purrington Rued has mainly been with Rivers Marie and Chateau Boswell. The clone is known for being extremely floral and slightly tropical…the floral notes dominated here. As the wines were poured blind for guests, a few noted it smelled of viogner but tasted like Sonoma Chardonnay, which I agree with. Honeysuckle, chamomile, white peach and small hints of baking spices aromatically. On the palate, it sported a medium bodied profile with some sweet lemon cream, more honeysuckle, and tropical fruits (not overly ripe though). Very pretty.
Not delicate, but certainly a somewhat restrained style for Russell Bevan, and one I really enjoyed. — 2 months ago
A bit young needs some bottle aging or many hrs. of decanting (only gave it 2hrs) Should be 95+ in a few yrs. — a year ago
Part 1 of the final and main event for the Fall WNH. The most spectacular lineup of wines I’ve ever seen, and an overall wonderful ending to an amazing trip with fantastic people.
I’ve had many of Bevan’s other label SauvBlancs (Bevan, Addax) that are unfiltered and to me, there is more fruit here than the others. Very tropical...mango & guava. Rich palate that is very honeyed. The finish has the limestone/stone fruit traits of the others. A fantastic Cali SB. Thanks @Joe Lucca ! — 4 years ago
@Delectable Wine : This is the Ritchie vineyard Chardonnay. I didn’t see it in the database.
One of the wines I opened for my annual WWC hosting.
Compared to the 2019 Purrington Rued before it, this was quite the contrast. As expected with this vineyard, I experienced a honey roasted cashew/nuttines in its profile, both aromatically and on the palate. Sea salt, roasted lemon, and nutmeg show up on the mid palate. Big texture. The finish here is lengthy and rich. Reminds me of Montagu’s Ritchie Chardonnay (which I love). This vineyard can hold the weight of this style of chard, and it works well. — 2 months ago
@Delectable Wine this is the Addax Tench Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon.
Deep purplish ruby red that completely coats the glass. Rich nose covered in blackberries, cassis and dark cocoa. Medium plus tannins (7.5/10) and full bodied. Plush and rich on the palate coated in vanilla, plums and blackberries. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2036. — 3 years ago
What an incredible second day here in Napa. Jesus started us off with an amazing tasting at Davies/Schramsberg, Crocker & Starr gave us our cab franc fix, Montagu & Addax put on a double tasting, and Hourglass knocked it out of the park at the end of the day! I won’t post each wine we tasted, but I’ll highlight the best from each spot.
One of the best winery visits we’ve ever done in our now 4 years is coming out. A combo of perfect weather, a great host, and no rush due to time constraints. One of the most beautiful caves I’ve ever seen. Similarities here to the Bevan cab, but this showed a bit more give and flex. Gorgeous bouquet of blue and black fruit. Plum, espresso and some dark chocolate. Loved it. — 4 years ago

@Delectable Wine : This is the AK Cuvée Chardonnay. I didn’t see it in the database.
One of the wines I opened for my annual WWC hosting.
This is a barrel select version of both Ritchie & Purrington Rued (I believe there is a small bit more of Ritchie than PR here). Again, really fun to try all three next to each other. Compared to the other two in the glass, this took some time to unfurl. A bit reserved at first, it really bulked up and put on a show towards the end, and it truly comes across as a blend of the two vineyards. Aromatically the floral component of the PR plays well with the nuttiness of the Ritchie. Baking spices, honeysuckle and ginger dominate. On the palate, it has gorgeous texture…full bodied but not in any way overblown or out of control. Layers of sweet lemon cream, orange blossom, honey roasted cashews and sea salt. Showed its youth more than the other two, and I see nice improvement on the horizon, even though it sure is delicious now. — 2 months ago
