Bourgogne Chardonnay 2014

I love the terroir driven nature of the white Bourgogne, this particular wine is light gold in colour and displays aromas of apple, pear, citrus and assertive mineral overtones. There’s a mild affectation of aged oak that evokes toasted hazelnuts, lemon and caramel flavours with mild acidity and a long finish. Paired perfectly with pan seared scallops on a bed of chorizo infused cabbage and leeks. — a month ago

@Kendall Johnson Thank you! It was actually a very good wine and one that I’ll likely return to as it has an excellent price point up here in Calgary. Great value. Cheers! 🍷🇨🇦

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

Owes its name to a man of the cloth born in 1264, Bertrand de Goth, Bishop of Comminges, in the Pyrenees Mountains, and later became Archbishop of Bordeaux in 1299. A blend, 58% Merlot, 38% Cab Sauv & 4% Petit Verdot, aged in 60% new French oak. Big fruit aromas with earthy spice notes. Blackberry & cherry flavors with tobacco and spice integrated with sweet tannins, lingering ending with earthy oak with a mineral tang. Excellent! — a month ago

I can’t believe this was $6. Well-rounded Bordeaux with bright, deep fruit and leather. This is an absolute steal. — 13 days ago

Delicate, delightful and toasty notes on this refreshing bubbly. Great notes on the nose followed by a easy dance on the palette - good stuff, this! — 24 days ago

Efferus Red Rhone Blend 2013

Mid crimson in colour. Blueberry on nose and palate showing the 72% Mataro. Nice pulpy fruit with bitterness. Light to medium bodied. I would prefer to drink this now at 5 years rather than cellar further. A cult Barossa cuvée made by Abel Gibson who makes light and fresh Barossa Shiraz with less oak influence than the norm. Amazingly the lightest empty bottle I have seen compared to the Primitivo which was ridiculously heavy. — 2 months ago

Pessac-Léognan Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2010

This white wine will blow your mind. So complex it is hard to describe. A dry wine that finishes sweet. It begins with apple , moves to lemon, ends with sweet peach. A treasure. A gift, so I don’t know what it costs. — 17 days ago

Reserva Bagaceira Velha 1900

Not what I expected. Dark in color. Way to dark to be from oak so probably caramel. Also a distinct but not sickly sweetness. I don’t think one really can rate something like this. It was wonderful to drink b — 24 days ago

Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2015

A very fine Bourgogne Rouge from Mr. Pascal Clement in a good healthy conditions, the wine sure needs at least one year from release to come into place. Easy drinker with fresh berry aromas reaching to its provenance with a portion of sous Bois, a nice development on both the nose and palate. More than one can expect from a Bourgogne Rouge. — 2 months ago
