Opaque, dark red-purple in appearance. Aromas of vegetables, meat, black fruits. Medium plus bodied, dry, 15.0 ABV. A nice departure from California as the fruit is on the back, so less jammy. Soft tannins and a long finish. Excellent value from Stellenbosch!

Another solid vintage of this South African Cabernet Franc. Dark ruby color. Aromas and flavors of black cherry, blackberry and black currant. Hints of black licorice and earth. Quite ripe but with excellent balance. Dark and brooding. — 18 days ago
The first of 4 bottles from my cellar. The nose has blackberry, violets and dried herbs. The palate has that trademark Margaret River herbaceousness but in this warmer vintage more cassis, fine persistent tannins which go on forever - almost silky. Just a beautiful rendition of Margaret River Cabernet with a very long life in front of it - say 20 years. Cape Mentelle one of the early vineyards and down in the south near the town. — 10 days ago
Excellent. Deep cherry notes. 2011 in 2022

Wine Tasting #4
Sorry you missed this one, Neal.
South Africa. And overall I got in trouble three times for talking too much and not finishing my tasting in time.

Don t know how this tasted in the suggested window. But I’m guessing that window wasn’t 20 years. Now is has a massive blackberry, plum, cherry, tabaco. Still mild tanine, no aging toned. Light bayleaf bitters. Very enjoyable (or as Peter would say: quafable 🤪) — 5 hours ago
