Three Palms Vineyard Merlot 1981

41 years to celebrate 41 years. May we all hold up as well as this has. Singing. Just so we’ll put together. — 3 days ago

Peter Lauer

Senior Faß 6 Ayler Riesling 2020

Popped and poured; enjoyed over three days. Consistent across the three days but seemed to be a little more open on Day 3. No formal notes. Loads of character in this wine. Star fruit, pear, lemon, gardenias, petrol and a massive amount of minerals: rocks and ferrous material. Absolutely sizzling with youthful energy. Long on the finish and wonderful acid. I want more. — 3 days ago

Domaine de Roche Ville

Le Roi Saumur Champigny

Really a hit in the moderately alcoholised (13%) category. Brigtly clear red, seducing nose of ripe peaches (! really uncommon in red), devinly blended acids and tanins. Sticks to the gums for minutes at 9€ a bottle. Really unbeleavable. The perfect bottle! — 5 days ago

Sandlands

Lodi Red Table Win 2020

Popped and poured, consumed over three days and best on Day 2. No formal notes. This is the third vintage of Sandlands “Red Table Wine” from Lodi and it has become a “must cop” for me. Endowed with lovely fruit and zippy acid, it’s very versatile and a sublime pairing with a variety of meals. A combination of three varieties and three vineyards in three equal parts; Cinsault from the Bechthold (1886), Carignane from Spenker Ranch (1900) and Zinfandel from Kirschenmann (1915); 12 barrels and one 500L puncheon produced. — 18 days ago

Château Bellefont-Belcier

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2017

It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday.

This is a very tasty Merlot based blend from Saint Emilion.

Full-bodied with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing blueberries, black plums, cooked cherries, cola, chocolates, light vanilla, oak, light vegetables, herbs and black pepper.

This 5 year old is still young and needs three to five years in the bottle to mature. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

I had it a few months ago and this time I gave it 24 hours to open up in the bottle. Much better this way.

Good by itself or with food. I enjoyed it with Camembert cheese and crackers.

A blend of 68% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc.

15% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$60.
