Last bottle of a summer dinner- no decant. 2nd tasting of this vintage & much more expressive than the first. Throws Brett a decent amount & imagine some might prefer a substantial decant, though I like the funkiness. Fine toothed &a lovely grainy, slightly chewy texture & rather elegant; cassis, black currant, smoked beef jerky, & black cherry on palate & nose. Not complex at this stage but who needs it given the enjoyment factor. Post meal ( or probably blended into the end) of grilled BBQ chicken, French lentilsw labneh, & local tomato salad. Medium bodied paired with pork and chicken. Balanced and medium red fruit. — 2 months ago
Great, love Hervé’s wines! Been a while. Black, blue and red berries, medium-light bodied (12.5% abv) and very subtle effervescence on opening. Low tannins, young, long fresh finish, a little vegetal. Unfiltered. — 5 months ago
Sipping Fine Wine
E Guigal produces fine Rhône wines. Dark Ruby color with aromas of berry fruit and earthy spice. On the palate flavors of black cherry and blackberry with cedar, cacao and earth notes, vivid acidity nice structure. Fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit and spice character. Good now will cellar well, a bargain compared to its Hermitage neighbors. — a day ago
