An excellent Cabernet from Napa. It pours a deep purple red. It has a smooth refined texture and body that I usually encounter in somewhat older wines. Flavors of blueberries and boysenberries, some vanilla, and oak. It went perfectly with prime New York steak and truffle Mac and cheese we paired it with. This was an extraordinary deal at Costco - only $20, marked down from $40. MSRP is $50. I have a second bottle that we’ll revisit in a year or so. — a month ago
With pasta con le sarde and pistachio-orange blossom cake at home. Fantastic bottle, loads of depth and utterly drinkable. 60 day mac. Spiced orange, cardamom, apricot fruit leather, ginger with nice zesty tannins. Fennel in wine and in dish were bang on, and great pairing with the saffron + texture of the breadcrumbs. The descriptors keep coming to me... the wine is showing a good deal of development (‘15 base, extended lees aging in neutral oak, some reserve wine; disgorged 11/19) Aromas of flaky, buttery, just-out-of-the-oven croissant; pomello, vanilla bean/ creme brûlée with a hint of lemon zest; subtle coconut/Shea butter (meunièr maybe?), apricot (fresh and dried), dried red apple, ginger, saffron.

Lacy and delicate mousse. So weightless on the palate, but so decadent in flavor that it feels like a magic trick.

No dosage and none needed; unfined and unfiltered.
