Annette's Reserve Redwood Valley Zinfandel 2002

2002; Father's Day 2022
👃 Dried blackberries, dried blueberries, over-ripe black cherry, crushed dark chocolate | 👅 Black cherry & strawberry syrup reduction, over-ripe nectarine skin, dark chocolate sauce, light tar notes, acidity/tannins persists with a long, round finish. Satisfying.

Cork pulled for slow oxidation, 11H rest at time of notes.

The end of the line for our Annette's stock, starting life in our cellar as a 4-pack back in Nov. 2005 ($22.50), this has been an enjoyable run.
Paired to homemade chocolate lava cake. 🤤

A quick googling points to a sub AVA of Mendocino…. Too many AVA’s to keep up.

Recherché Reserve Ferrington Vineyard Pommard 4 Clone Pinot Noir

Genuinely one of the best wines I’ve had. Bought after a tasting, it stood up well with pancetta tomato sauce. Had an excellent fruity finish and really good body without being too heavy. Wish I had another bottle. — 3 days ago

Littorai

Roman Vineyard Pinot Noir 2010

Haunting aromatics, stemmy with subtle campfire smoke. You could taste and see the age, dry and savoury, black tea. Light cherry layers. Probably on the downslope from here as the acid just holding it all together. — 22 days ago

Kirsch cherry liqueur. Redwood. Fruit and acidity. Good texture but medium minus body. Will age well. Beautiful now. — 5 days ago

Bearwallow Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016

Fun to experience TRB’s winemaking with Anderson Valley fruit. Nose is lighter and more lifted than his Sonoma bottlings, yet still has the density and depth of fruit expected of his style. There’s a background radiation of higher acid from times past. At this age it’s all in balance with the savory and bright elements perfectly balancing Thomas’s extraction level. This might be peak. Drink up! — 20 days ago

Copain

DuPratt Anderson Valley Chardonnay 2016

Very tasty. Gold, medium weight. Restraint. Bright Flinty Mineral. Zero butter. A tiny bit of toast on the finish. A little bound up upon opening. Gets really nice about an hour in. Vineyard is in Anderson Valley. Wells Guthrie is a very talented winemaker. Pretty sure this was his last vintage at Copain. — 8 days ago

Roederer Estate

Estate Bottled Anderson Valley Brut Rosé Blend

This is as good as sparkling Rosé gets in California - certainly for the price point. 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay. Wonderful salmon-pink color with a delicious palate of cherry, apricot, musk melon and grapefruit peel. Beautiful balance of fruit and off-dry character. Shows the pure class of Anderson Valley. — 4 days ago

Suisun Valley Grand Durif 2019

An excellent Wagner Family wine that I would consider a baby traditional Caymus at an excellent price point. A must have if you can find it! — 3 days ago
